The betta fish is a fighting fish.If you train bettas, they will play with you.Training your betta to follow your finger is the first step. You can teach your fish more tricks once she masters this skill.Learning tricks will help your betta fish.
Step 1: Understand your betta.
Betta fish can recognize you. They can become attached to their owners. She is more likely to recognize you if you spend time near your fish. This will help with training.Give your betta at least a week to recognize you.If your betta starts swimming towards you, you will know that she is ready.
Step 2: Check the well-being of your fish.
The fish's color should be bright and clear. Her fins should not have tears or holes. The scales are supposed to be smooth.Your fish should be moving quickly. She should swim quickly.A good sign that your betta is doing well is bubbles on the water's surface. If you want to train your betta, she needs to be in top shape.
Step 3: There are snacks for training.
Purchase snacks for your pet. These are small and breakable.Betta eats tubifex worms, mosquito larvae, and daphnia.Overfeeding your betta is dangerous because treats and food are great for training.A betta should eat at least two to three bloodworms per feeding. He should be fed twice a day.Cutback feeding if the fish's body is swollen. She could be hurt. The fish's stomach can be seen from the side. She is likely to be constipated if it is swollen. There might be a lack of defecation.Don't feed her for two days if this happens.Feed her a piece of the inside of a pea.Her eyeball should be the size of the piece. It's important to thaw frozen food before use.
Step 4: You need to wash your hands.
You should wash your hands before you work with fish.Do not use soap when using hot water.Soap can be harmful to fish. You should wash your hands after a training session.
Step 5: Get your betta's attention.
If she looks at your hand, softly tap on the glass.Give her a treat to get her attention if she isn't paying attention. You can begin training once she focuses on your hand.Don't hit the tank very hard.Your fish will be shocked.
Step 6: The fish should follow your finger.
The front of the fish tank or bowl has a finger on it.Reward her with a treat if she moves towards it.Shake your finger until she notices. In multiple directions, move your finger.Move your finger to one side of the tank.Move your finger up and down.Reward your fish if she follows you.Train her for three to five minutes at a time.Proceed to other tricks after she consistently follows your finger.Teaching other tricks will be easier if you can follow your betta's finger.
Step 7: To flare on command, train your betta.
A male betta flares when he sees another male in nature.A betta opens her gills as much as she can.Bettas look twice their size.It is possible to teach your male or female fish to do this trick.Flaring promotes bubble nest building.Male bettas blow small bubbles in clusters on the water's surface to build a bubble nest.If you want to overexert your betta, only perform the flare trick for three to five minutes a day.Take a small mirror and a red or black-capped pen.Your betta will recognize the pen if you use the same colored pen throughout training. The tank has a mirror in it.Place the pen next to the mirror when your betta flares. The process will be repeated two to three more times.Your betta may move away if she gets afraid.Keep trying.Remove the mirror and leave the pen when your betta starts to flare. Each time she flares, give her food or a treat.Continue until your betta flares.
Step 8: Betta should be taught to jump.
Betta fish jump a lot.If you want to train your betta, place half a bloodworm on it.The food should be close to the fish.Have your betta come to you with the stick underwater.Move the feeding stick closer to the water.Have your betta swim with you.The stick should be moved to the water's surface.Betta should swim to you.The stick should be moved slightly above the water surface. If the stick is out of the water, your betta will jump for it even if she doesn't know she can get food from it.You can use your fingers instead of the stick after she does the trick. You can avoid over-feeding your betta by halving your bloodworms. She should have a maximum of three to four bloodworms in one sitting. You can train your betta to recognize a feeding stick, a thin stick with a curved end, during her feeding times.Bettas jump when excited or scared. To prevent your betta from jumping from the tank, purchase a lid.She can jump when the lid is removed.
Step 9: Betta can swim through a hoop.
A pipe cleaner is needed. The pipe cleaner has a two inch diameter. On the side of the fish tank, hang it.The side of the aquarium should be touched by the hoop. You can move your finger through the hoop on the outside of the tank.Give her a treat when she swims through the hoop. She should swim through the hoop every now and then. The hoop should be slightly larger than one inch in diameter. The hoop should be moved farther away from the tank's sides after she is comfortable with the trick.Continue until she can swim through the hoop in the center of the tank.If it takes a while, don't be discouraged, this is one of the most difficult tricks. If your pipe cleaner is brand new, it doesn't contain toxins that could harm your fish.
Step 10: Keep trying!
If she does what you ask, you will reward her.A training session is done once per day.Be persistent.Don't overwork your betta. She needs enough time to rest and relax. If your fish does not want to play, don't force it.They are not just for entertainment.
