The Vent Blockage test on your dryer will detect the status of the exhaust ducts and report any problems. After the dryer is installed, you should run these tests every once in a while.Proper ducting can help reduce drying time and save energy. Not all dryer models have a Vent Blockage test.To confirm, check your user manual.
Even if your dryer passes the test, you should still clean your exhaust vent.
Your dryer may not enter the test mode if it's not sufficiently cooled down before you use it.The AIR FLUFF cycle can be used to reduce the internal temperature if you run the test right after installing your dryer.
When you're ready to start, close the door and make sure the drum is empty. The test won't give accurate results if there is any laundry in the drum.
To turn the dryer on, press and hold the power until the display shows InS or In.
The Vent Blockage test lasts for approximately 2 minutes.Don't open the door during the test.
You'll hear the completion chime if the duct system status is normal.
If the duct system can't exhaust properly, you will see "Cg" on the display and hear an alarm chime. The dryer's exhaust vent needs to be cleaned.
There is laundry inside the drum if "C1" or "CL1" displays. If there is, stop the test, remove the laundry, and then run it again.
For about 5 minutes, the results remain on the display.Wait for the dryer to turn off after 5 minutes if you want it to.
This test is not effective on older models because they don't reduce heat when a vent is blocked.Even when the dryer is hot, you are most at risk for a fire in your vent since it is not reducing its heat, and if you encounter long cycle times, the cause is still most likely to be a clogged vent.Even if your dryer passes the test, it's important to clean your exhaust vent at least once or twice a year because cycle times are running longer than in the past. It's also why newer models reduce the heat when a blockage is detected, and you can get your dryer heating again by cleaning your vent.
If your vent is causing a low heat issue, it is a good idea to have the vent disconnected and see if the dryer's heater performs better.
For at least 30 seconds, run a Time Dry cycle. If your model has the Eco Dry setting, turn it off.
If the dryer is hotter without the vent than when it was connected, you have to do something.
If the dryer is hotter when the vent is disconnected, then either the exhaust vent needs to be cleaned or it doesn't meet the requirements set in the user manual to provide enough air for it.
If you feel the same amount of hot air both ways, your vent isn't causing your dryer to use less heat.
Our Dryer has no heat at all if you feel no hot air when you perform this test.
