How do you measure earring stud size?
- Length is measured from top to bottom, including the clasp.
- Width is always measured at the widest point.
- Diameter is given for flower or ball shaped earrings.
How many mm are earring posts?
Standard earrings are typically 16-20 gauge, or 1.2 mm to . 8 mm. Thicker gauges require a larger piercing hole, so if you bought a 14 or 12 gauge post earring it may hurt your ears if your piercing is not wide enough to accommodate for the thickness of the post.Nov 18, 2019
How do I know what size earring back I need?
Measure the widest part of the threaded portion of the earring post. Use a digital gauge/caliper in order to obtain accurate results. Simply screw the back to the threaded earring post post with a turning motion - much more secure than a push-on back!
What size earring should I get?
Gauge Size: Insert a standard earring post through your piercing - this is going to be a 20G size post. If it fits snugly, then your gauge size will be 20G. If you can move it around a little bit, try an 18G size. If you can move it around quite a bit, then you probably want a 16G size.
