What kind of items can be donated to Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army accepts all clothing for men, women, infants and children. It also accepts recordings, compact discs, jewelry, shoes, purses and accessories. You can donate books, but not magazines or encyclopedias.
What can you not donate to Goodwill?
- Items in Need of Repair.
- Recalled or Unsafe Items.
- Mattresses & Box Springs.
- Fireworks, Weapons or Ammunition.
- Paint & Household Chemicals.
- Building Materials.
- Extremely Large or Bulky Items.
- Medical Supplies.
What items will Salvation Army not accept?
- Any appliances that have mechanical difficulties, missing power cord or is rusty or dirty.
- Large console model televisions and stereos.
- Televisions older than 5 years.
- Built in appliances (Ovens, Stoves, Dishwashers, microwave etc.)
What can and Cannot be donated?
- Furniture that is covered in animal hair, broken, worn, torn, stained, or missing parts.
- Bean bag chairs.
- Sleeper sofas.
- Due to the Digital TV Transition, Goodwill will only take flat-screen tvs.
- Excessively large/bulky items such as swing sets, swimming pools, unbound carpeting, etc.
Is it OK to donate bras?
It's common knowledge that you can donate new bras, but can you donate bras that have been used? Absolutely! There are several organizations that take gently used bras and use them for good, whether that be by recycling them or donating them to people in need.16 Sept 2021
What will Salvation Army not take?
For health and safety reasons we don't accept used mattresses, box springs or sleeper sofas. We accept most household goods, furniture and clothes in useable condition.12 Aug 2013
