What is the standard size opening for most dishwasher?

It is an old adage that carpenters and builders live by.When it comes to installing your new appliances, you have to do it twice.If you don't measure, you could end up with a huge, heavy new appliance that doesn'T fit in your kitchen.

If you have an existing dishwasher, you might think it is easy to pull it out, recycle it, and install a new dishwasher of your choice.It is possible, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

The standard size of a dishwasher is 24 inches wide by 35 inches high, which is the same size as the dishwasher.If you don't measure your dishwasher's existing space, you'll have no idea whether or not your designated spot will fit that size.

The size of your dishwasher will change when you install a new one.Maybe you want to put tile under the dishwasher.The tile's height will affect the height of the opening.

New cabinets could have been installed in your kitchen.By measuring, you can be sure that the rough opening for a dishwasher is the right one.

You can still get a new dishwasher if you find your opening is smaller than the standard size.To hide the excess space, choose a smaller portable dishwasher and buffer the sides with trim.

Put the end of your tape measure on the floor in front of the dishwasher opening to measure its height.The dishwasher opening should be used on the left edge.

Pull your tape all the way up until you reach the bottom of the counter.Write that measurement down.

Do the same measurement on the right side of your dishwasher.Write that measurement down.

Move your tape measure to the top left corner of your rough opening to measure the width.The tape should be extended across the opening to the right side.Write that measurement down.

Go down to the bottom left corner of your rough opening with your tape measure.Just like you did for the top, extend your tape across the opening to the right side.Write that measurement down.

There is no change in the size of the space if you measure the width at the top and bottom.

You can either measure the depth of the dishwasher opening or both.If you don't have a dishwasher in the space, take your tape measure and move it to the back wall of your rough opening on the right side.Holding it in place, extend the tape all the way to the front of your cabinets.Write that measurement down.

To make sure the depth is the same on both sides, extend your tape from the left side back wall to the front of your cabinets.Write that measurement down.

You can still take the depth measurement if you have a dishwasher.Take your tape measure and put it on the back wall of your kitchen.Pull it along the edge of the counter.Write the measurement down.The measurement of depth for your dishwasher is the same as for the cabinets.

If it isn't the same on both sides, take the smaller measurement with you when you're shopping for a new dishwasher.

It is easy to measure for a dishwasher and it can save you a lot of time.You will be happy washing dishes in no time if you make sure it fits.
