"Alright" isn't written as "OK", which is an unrelated word with a similar meaning. It's actually officially written as "all right", which is nearly as stupid, because "alright" is a single word and pronounced as such, whereas "all right" is a two-word phrase with a different pronunciation and meaning.

Is Alright means OK?
alright Add to list Share. Alright is the informal way of writing "all right." It can stand in for "okay," like the sandwich you had for lunch that was just alright — it was neither great nor terrible.
Is Alright formal?
Difference Between Alright and All Right Even though alright is becoming increasingly popular in casual writing, all right is the only acceptable spelling of the phrase in American English. British English does accept alright in informal settings, but prefers all right in formal writing.
