What are the internal and external conflicts in The Cask of Amontillado?
The major conflict is between one man and his own mind.Montresor is so broken over whether or not to kill Fortunato that he is almost inhuman. He has a glimpse of compassion at the end, but he ignores any feelings.
Person vs. personThe conflict is obvious throughout the story.Montresor has a vendetta against Fortunato which leads him to murder.
Montresor is breaking societal rules by murdering one of his own kind in a betrayal of trust.
No person. There is a bit of Person vs. Nature between Montresor and nature. He tries to defy death by trying to stay alive.
