Basic indoor volleyball involves passing, setting, and hitting.Through practice, coordination, and proper form, each can be mastered. To master each of them, you have to start by practicing with a ball and work your way up.Once you have begun using a ball, it's important to keep using proper footwork.
Step 1: The stance should be used.
You should stand with your feet a little further apart than your shoulders. If you want your butt to stick out a little, bend your knees and curve your back. You should be standing on your toes and ready to move in a split second. If someone pushes you in your passing position, you should be able to move a foot to save yourself. They should be able to cause you to fall in either direction.
Step 2: Hold your arms in a perfect position.
If you want to extend your arms straight in front of you, use your proper stance. You should bend your elbow half way.You should look like you have a large box in your hand.It is possible to pass with your hands or forearms in a split second.
Step 3: If you want to pass, learn to do it with your platform.
When you have your ready position down, you can use the form to pass with your forearms or platform.Place it on the other hand.Take your thumbs and place them in the middle.Point your thumbs away from you.If you can get your thumbs as far from your body as possible, you will be able to create a platform. You want your platform to be straight. To get a straighter platform, try squeezing the sides of your elbow together. You might be able to match up both forearms if you are double jointed.
Step 4: Step forward with your legs together.
When you pass, you want the ball to go back into the court. The one you lead with will be closest to the outside of the court.Your platform will face the court.Standing straight up isn't required for stepping. The ball will come to you.
Step 5: You should keep an eye on it.
The ball will land on your platform.Don't look away from the ball.
Step 6: Don't use your arms.
As the ball falls onto your platform, keep the angle between your arms and torso steady.Don't swing your arms if you want to lift the ball.If you swing your arms, you can't tell where your pass will go.You need strong legs to pass.Follow through.Be aware of the way you are facing as you move the ball. You have done it correctly if you are facing the target.
Step 7: You should stay low and be ready.
You want to stay low and be prepared for the ball to come back at you after you pass it.Unless the official has blown the whistle and the play is over, you should never stand straight up in the back row.
Step 8: Use proper movement.
Your feet should be shoulder width apart with a slight bend in your knees as you prepare to set.You should be ready to move once again.
Step 9: With the net, square up.
Next to the net, you should have your right shoulder. No matter where the ball goes, keep yourself square to the net. This makes sure that you are facing where you want the ball to go.
Step 10: The correct hand form is used.
The triangle should be formed by your thumbs and forefingers. You should be waiting in the setting area when the ball arrives.Your hands should be in the shape of a ball. You will be called for illegal setting form and put yourself at risk of injury if you keep your fingers straight.Have your hands out of the way.The ball should be by your head as soon as possible. Before you set each ball, tap your thumbs to your forehead.
Step 11: The ball needs to be accepted.
When the ball arrives, you want to use your wrists to accept it, but you aren't allowed to hold it.If you keep your hands at forehead level, you will have proper setting form. You won't be able to hold the ball for too long.
Step 12: Use your legs to move around.
You want to use your legs to move the ball, not your arms. The power of your set should come from your legs as you push through the ball. The ball should be released cleanly. You should only hold the ball for a second.Push the ball to the spot you want it to go.Push through your legs, tighten your abdominals, and use your arms to direct the ball. It's a good idea to finish in a superman position. If the ball spins more than one full rotation, you will be called for a double contact.
Step 13: A master of walking.
You have to be able to take a proper approach to hitting.Start back on the attack line with your feet next to each other at a 45 degree angle. If you are a lefty, you should do the mirroring movement.Take your right foot and walk.Take a big step onto your left foot. You should be close to the net at this point.Take your right foot and match it to your left foot.Your legs should be ready to jump as you land on these two feet.To help your approach, use your arms.As you approach the last two steps of your approach, start with them in front of you and swing them back. They should be behind you before you jump.
Step 14: Move upwards.
If you jump into the net, you don't want to use your momentum to drive you forwards. You can use your legs and arm to propel yourself up.
Step 15: Take your arm out.
Pull your arm back as you jump.Swing toward the ball while keeping your elbow up.You should always keep an eye on the ball.
Step 16: Your wrist is strong.
You want a strong wrist when you swing the ball. The ball won't make it over the net if your wrist is weak.Put your power through the ball with your abdominal and shoulder muscles. You should finish by landing on the ground with your arm in the air.The most important part of placing the ball is hand contact.Your points will be scored if you place the ball.Hit a ball into the corner of the floor and the wall while standing 20 feet from a wall.Try to get the entire surface of your hand at the same time.
Step 17: If you must, tip.
If the ball is in the wrong spot for you, you can tip it.When you tap the ball just enough to get over the block, it will fall gently on the ground behind them.
