There's a difference between smooth and rough ER.
There are two types of ER, smooth and rough.ER is only found in eukaryotic cells. The ER is made of a network of cells. The bound ribosomes on its surface give it a rough appearance.Rough ER stores and synthesises.Smooth ER helps in the storage of things. The main difference between smooth and rough ER is the lack of bound ribosomes.
1.Smooth ER is a structure and function.Rough ER is a structure and function. There is a difference between Smooth and Rough ER.
Smooth ER is a type of reticulum. Some smooth ERs have ribosome bound surfaces. They are referred to as transitional ER.
The ER is usually connected to the nuclear envelope.tubules are located near the cell periphery.A reticular network is formed by the branched tubes.sacs can be formed. The surface area devoted to the ER is increased by this reticulum.
Some specialized cells have a lot of ER.The ER synthesis is smooth in these cells.Cholesterol can be found in the testes. There are transport vesicles near the ER.These vesicles move into the Golgi apparatus after detaching from the ER.Smooth ERs are involved in the metabolism of steroids. They remove alcohol, drugs and natural metabolism products. They regulate the concentration of calcium in muscle cells. In gluconeogenesis, smooth ER contains glucose-6-phosphate in order to convert it into sugar.
The other type of reticulum is rough ER.This is what the ER does.
The rough ER is given a rough appearance by the ribosomes. The rough ER has a ribosome binding site.Ribosomes are not bound by ER.They bind and let go.Golgi apparatus is a double-membrane sheet. The ER and Golgi apparatus are home to the shuttled genes.
The formation of a specificprotein-nucleic acid complex in the cytoplasm is caused by ribosomes binding to the ER.The secretory pathway is where this complex is formed. The translation begins with a ribosome. The signal peptide is created by the first 5-30 amino acids. The signal is recognized by the SRP.The ribosome complex binding to the translocon on rough ER is paused. The translation needs to be continued in order to form the chain. The RER has a nucleus.Further modifications are obtained by post-translational modifications. The peptidase removes the signal peptide. After removing the signal, bound ribosomes are released.Non-translating ribosomes are associated with the ER.There is more to rough ER than the synthesis and processing of proteins. The rough ER is where N-linked glycosylation begins.
Smooth ER is present in many types of cells, such as adipocytes, interstitial cells of the testis, glycogen storing cells in the liver, and muscle cells.
Rough ER is present in a lot of the cells that make up the body.
ER is a system of channels in the cytoplasm. The synthesis and storage of macromolecules can be done with either smooth or rough ER.Smooth ER produces something. They store a lot of things. On the other hand, rough ER stores them. The rough ER has ribosomes bound on it.The main difference between smooth and rough ER is the presence or absence of ribosomes on their surfaces.
