Step 4: The motor vehicle agency has the application form.
Information about you and the vehicle you want to register is required on the application form.You can't download it online or fill it out ahead of time because it's only available at the office.Write your information in blue or black ink on the form.Before you turn it in, double-check your form.If you make a mistake, your registration may be void.
Step 5: You have to submit your application and pay your fees.
You should present your application along with your identification when you are called.License plates and a registration document will be given to you by the official.You should keep your registration document in the glove box of your car.You may be issued a temporary tag if you ordered a specialty plate.You will receive your plate in the mail.
Step 6: The registration code will remain the same if you confirm it.
The registration and plates can be transferred from an old vehicle to a new one.The vehicle weight class and the name on the registration must be the same.If you traded in a sedan for a small SUV, you could transfer the registration.If you traded in a van or larger truck for a sedan, you would not be able to transfer the registration because the vehicles wouldn't be in the same weight class.
Step 7: You can visit a motor vehicle agency.
You have to do it in person if you want to transfer your registration from one car to another.Transferring registration through the mail is not allowed in New Jersey.Let the greeter desk at the motor vehicle agency know that you want to transfer registration.They will give you the forms you need.
Step 8: You need to fill out a registration form for your new vehicle.
Information about yourself, your residence, and the new vehicle can be provided on the registration form.Transferring registration from an old car to a new one is an indication.Use blue or black ink to enter the information.Make sure you enter the correct information on the new form.
Step 9: You should submit your application with proper identification.

Step 13: Attach the payment stub to the mail.
The return envelope is included in your renewal notice.If you want to pay your registration fees by mail, you must include a check or money order.You can mail your payment to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission if you don't have the return envelope.
Step 14: You can renew your motor vehicle in person.
Bring your driver's license, insurance card, and license plate number with you when renewing your car registration.If you're close to the end of your old registration, renewing in person may be the best option.If you are renewing your registration in person, the MVC accepts major credit or debit cards, checks, money orders, and cash.
