Smoking a pipe can be relaxing. Many beginning smokers pack their pipes too tight. You need to learn how to pack and light a pipe for a pleasant smoking experience. The pipe is packed
Step 1: You can choose your fire.
A wooden match or pipe lighter can be used. The taste of the tobacco should not be altered by pipe lighters. If you use a match, burn it and get the sulfur off.Lighters that are not specifically designed for tobacco pipes should be avoided. The butane from the lighter is said to affect the flavor of the tobacco.A wooden match is needed against the emery strip. Before applying sulfur to the pipe, burn off the sulfur tip.A wooden match won't give you a taste of lighter fluid.
Step 2: There is a false light.
Do not light the tobacco completely yet.The flame should be held just above the tobacco.Use a half a dozen puffs to draw your breath. All of the tobacco can be reached by moving the flame in a circle. The purpose of the "charring light" is to burn the tobacco slightly, but not completely.Don't breathe in the smoke.Pipe tobacco is stronger and has more flavor than cigarettes.
Step 3: Keep smoking.
The true light is when the pipe is evenly lit.To make sure the pipe stays lit, keep puffing.Once the bowl is properly burning, it should stay lit for at least 5-15 minutes. The tobacco has air flowing through it.If you don't want to inhale so often, try exhaling gently.A small amount of smoke should come out of the bowl when the air stokes the pipe fire.
Step 4: If it's necessary, light the pipe.
Over the course of the smoking session, you may need to relight your pipe. The same motion is used with your match. When the light goes out, remove the charred top with tobacco. The ash removal will allow the pipe to burn more evenly.
Step 5: Start with an empty pipe.
Run a pipe cleaner through the stem to clean the pipe. After turning the pipe over, dump the debris into an ashtray. To clear it out completely, blow through the pipe.
Step 6: Pinch some tobacco.
Spread it on a piece of paper.Check that it isn't moist by breaking up clumps.Leave it spread across the paper for 10 minutes to an hour if it is moist.
Step 7: The bowl needs to be packed.
Take the strands of tobacco out of the bowl.Continue until it reaches the top of the bowl.
Step 8: The bowl of the pipe needs to be tampered with.
There are online retailers that sell tobacco tampers. When you hit the tobacco, press gently.Don't touch the tobacco with your hands. The tobacco can be clumped together by the finger oils.
Step 9: The tobacco level should be checked.
Half of the bowl should be filled if your pipe has straight sides. It should be two-thirds full if it has graduated sides.
Step 10: Put the pipe in your mouth.
Take your breath out.The bowl is too tight if it is hard to get air through. When it is packed, the tobacco should be soft and springy.
Step 11: When the bowl is overfull, add more tobacco in small strands.
You did it the first time.Use gentle pressure.
Step 12: You can draw on the pipe again.
You might need to draw more breath. The air should come through the pipe. The bowl is packed too tight if air doesn't come through.Start over.
Step 13: Drop more strands into the bowl.
Tamp is gently down. The bowl needs to be full and ready to light up.
Step 14: You can buy a pipe.
Buying a cheap corncob pipe is a good way to start.Smoking marijuana and other non-tobacco plants can be done with glass pipes.
Step 15: Smoke in a respectful way.
Like cigarettes, pipe tobacco can cause indoor air pollution.Light the pipe from the entrance of the public space. If you can.Pack your pipe inside and bring it outside on a windy day.
Step 16: Take your time.
Enjoy the smoke.Take 20 minutes to smoke your first pipe.
