When you provide funds for an online transaction or fill out a form for direct deposit, you'll often be asked for your bank's Routing Number. The location of your bank account is identified by a nine-digit number provided by the ABA.It is easy to find.
Step 1: You can see the check in the lower left hand corner.
That's where the numbers are located.
Step 2: There is a check with an icon.
There is a character in the icon.It is part of the number.
Step 3: Find the first nine numbers.
The numbers are nine.Your routing number is the first nine numbers in the lower, left-hand part of your check. If you want to determine your routing number, be sure to exclude any preceding MICR characters.Up until the next MICR character, your account number is your next set of numbers. The number at the end of the account number should match the check number.
Step 4: If you want to confirm your number, use symbols.
The symbols designating your number look like a vertical line on the left with two squares on top of the other.Your routing number is the number between those characters.
Step 5: The first digit of your number should be examined.
The numbers 0, 1, 2 or 3 are the beginning of the numbers.
Step 6: You can check online for the bank's routing number.
It's publicly available because the number isn't secure. You can find it online.Look for a link on your bank's website that will give you information about the numbers.Banks often publish online their routing number information.Search for your bank's name with the words "routing number".If you can't find it by looking at your bank's website, try searching on the internet. You might be surprised at how often you can find things on the internet that are difficult to find at a company site.
Step 7: Call your bank and ask for the number.
One of the most reliable ways to get an accurate number is to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about.
Step 8: Go to the bank and ask the customer service representative for the routing number.
If you'd like to work with someone locally, instead of at a call center, you should visit your bank and talk to someone who can give you your routing number.
