A "bunny hop" is a bicycle trick that involves jumping both the front and back wheels at the same time. The trick will allow you to jump over obstacles and launch your bike into the air.The bunny hop is a combination of two moves, the front pull and the back hop, which you have to master individually before you can execute it.You'll be bunny hopping in no time with a little practice.
Step 1: Lean back a bit when riding at a slow to medium speed.
Keep your pedals parallel with the ground by standing out of the bike seat.If you bend at the waist, you will be positioned above the bike seat rather than behind it.Put your head over the front wheel when you stand up.
Step 2: Pull your handlebars upward with your arms if you sink your weight into the front wheel.
If you shift your center of gravity back, you can explode straight upward.Push your feet into the pedals while you pull up with your arms.
Step 3: Pull the front wheel off the ground.
Pull the bike up with your arms when you get it as high as you can by leaning back.Keep your pedals level.
Step 4: The wheel should be gently dropped back to the ground.
You haven't mastered the front pull until you can place the tire down with care, rather than letting it snap back to the ground.
Step 5: You should shift your weight forward.
You shouldn't throw yourself forward and shake the bike if you do this quickly.
Step 6: Pull the pedals up with your feet after you snap your heels up.
If you want your feet to be almost vertical, pull them up.
Step 7: As you push your legs up, press back against the pedals.
Your feet will move back and forth. The pressure you apply to the pedals will keep your feet on the bike as you pull the back end up with your leg muscles.
Step 8: The back wheel can be lifted up and off the ground by using your leg muscles.
Push or roll the handlebars as you do this.
Step 9: The back wheel should be dropped gently back to the ground.
Just like with the front pull, you have to delicately place the back wheel down, rather than drop it sharply to the ground.
Step 10: Take a front pull to begin.
Put your mass through the back wheel as you do this. The bounce will help you take off when you move into the back hop.The front wheel should be pulled up to maximum height before the next part of the maneuver.
Step 11: Pull the pedals up with your feet after you snap your heels up.
When your front wheel is in the air, snap your heels upward so that your feet are almost vertical.
Step 12: As you push your legs up, press back against the pedals.
Push back with your feet and then point your toes. The push/ pull motion can be used to get the back wheel up.The pressure you apply to the pedals will keep your feet on the bike as you pull the back end up with your leg muscles.
Step 13: Push the handlebars forward.
You will do this at the same time as you do it with your feet.If you want to stay focused on technique, try not to worry about the speed of your bunny hop.
Step 14: Place your bike in the air.
You can get a more defined looking bunny hop by squeezing your legs together. When you start bunny hopping onto higher surfaces, it's important to remember to level the bike.
Step 15: The first thing to do is lower your rear wheel.
It makes controlling the bike easier after landing. If you need to make a turn immediately after the hop, you should land with your front wheel first. It's a good idea to practice this in grass before you try it.If you feel like you are going to fall during a bunny hop, try to get up and onto grass for a softer landing.
Step 16: Practice bunny hopping.
Bunny hopping is a bike trick, but it is also a very useful maneuver when it comes to avoiding or jumping over obstacles in your path when you are on a ride.If you want to practice bunny hopping over obstacles, start at a height of about 6 inches and increase it as you get used to each hop.
Step 17: When hopping over obstacles, bring both tires up at the same time.
You are one with your pedals, but this is an additional technique that involves jumping, just like you would on the ground.Don't let your feet come off the pedals if you jump while twisting forward on the handlebars. The back end will come up if you keep your feet on the pedals. The front end should be brought up at the same time as the tires.Without pedaling, you will be pulling up.
