Sometimes you need to stay up late to finish your homework, and other times you want to do it for fun.Your parents probably won't approve either way.To stay up late, you need to have some supplies and be careful not to make any noises during the night.
Step 1: You can make a map of your house.
If you want to leave your room, you need to know where the creaky floorboards are.You can look for ways to sneak around.You can either memorize them or draw a rough outline of the stairs on a piece of paper.You can mark the noisy spots on it.
Step 2: You can sneak drinks and snacks into your room.
You will most likely get hungry or thirsty while staying up late, so you should sneak some bottles of water and snacks out of the kitchen and into your room during the day.If your parents are going to go into your closet at the end of the day, put them under the bed.If you are worried about getting tired, choose energy drinks.If you want a quiet snack, choose bread or fresh fruit instead of chips or cereals.
Step 3: There are books and electronic devices in this picture.
If you stay up late to do homework, you should put your books, papers, and pencils in your room so you don't have to find them later.If you want to stay up for fun, hide a book, phone, or handheld device under your pillow.Make sure that electronic devices are fully charged so that they last through the night.
Step 4: Light sources can be found.
At some point, you will have to turn off the bedroom light in order to sleep.Track down a book light or flashlight and store it near your bed so you can read it while you sleep.
Step 5: Take a nap after work.
If you have time in the afternoon, take a nap.Grabbing an hour or so of sleep now will allow you to sleep through the night.
Step 6: You should go to bed at your regular time.
You don't want to rush to bed early or try to sleep later.Your parents could be suspicious of either of these behaviors.Don't let your schedule get in the way of unwanted attention.
Step 7: The light should be turned off.
If you leave the light on, your parents will be able to see it.After they go to bed, keep it off.You can turn it back on once everyone is asleep.If anyone gets up to go to the bathroom, put a blanket around the bottom of the door.
Step 8: There are some hints of activity in the house.
When everyone goes to bed, keep an eye on it.If your parents come to check on you, put your belongings under the covers.If someone comes in, lay motionless and breathe evenly.
Step 9: You should keep yourself awake.
You can find things to do on your phone or tablets if you are worried about falling asleep.Try texting with a friend.If you drink the energy drink early, it could cause you to crash.If you share a room with a sibling, you will need to do this under the covers or wait until they sleep.
Step 10: Remove electronic devices.
Since the vibrate function still makes some noise, be sure your sounds are all the way off.You risk not hearing your parents footsteps if you use headphones.The screen should be dim as far as it can go.It will be less noticeable if you shove your device under the covers.If you don't usually do this, keep the blanket under your legs.It is harder to see the light if your screen brightness is low and your device is near your legs.If there isn't a quick hiding spot for your electronic device, try this.
Step 11: Wait until everyone is awake.
You may have to wait up to an hour to be sure that your parents are asleep.If you have a sibling or parents in the room, listen for any noises.
Step 12: If your parents catch you awake, think of an excuse.
Say that you are just going to the bathroom or getting a glass of water if you wake up.Another possibility is that I couldn't sleep.Say you had a bad dream and distract yourself for a while.You could say that you heard a noise downstairs and wanted to make sure everything was okay.
Step 13: You should invite a friend or sibling.
If you have a sibling or friend spending the night, ask them to join you.It is important that your sibling does not tell on you the next day.You two can do this again if they keep it a secret.Try not to make each other laugh and keep your voices down as you move around the house.If you know the dog or cat will be quiet, let them join you.You may need to stay in your room all night if the dog barks.
Step 14: Slowly move.
If you are going to leave your room, take slow, soft steps on the balls of your feet.Don't go to the areas you found could have a creaky floorboard.Turn doorknobs slowly to avoid loud clicks.
Step 15: The TV volume should be turned down.
If you want to watch TV while you are awake, turn it on and hold the button to decrease the volume.You don't know how loud it was when it's turned off.If your parents get up to go to the bathroom, keep it as low as possible.Place a blanket or towel at the base of your door if you have a TV in your room.This will stop the light from leaking into the hallway.
Step 16: Limit the number of bathroom trips.
In order to cut down on noise, try to go to the bathroom as frequently as possible.Limit your beverage intake to help with this.Don't flush the toilet until you get back into bed.
Step 17: You should keep an eye on the clock.
Go back to normal mode once you wake up.You can hide your snacks in the closet.Pretend that your parents wake you up when your alarm clock rings.
