Shrink-wrapping is a packaging technique that secures items to a palletA roll of plastic film that is manually wrapped around the pallet is used for shrink-wrapping.Shrink-wrapping involves heating plastic film to seal items on a pallet to each other and to the pallet itself, though there are times when a tightly wrapped pallet might not require the application of heat.If you know how to properly stack a pallet and wrap it using a traditional heat shrink bag or plastic film, you can do it.
Step 1: Put the bag over the items and pallet.
The guide "Preparing to Shrink-Wrap Using Manually Applied Film" can be used if you don't have heat-shrink bags. The bag should be snug over the pallet and items. It doesn't need to be tight, but loose.Tuck the excess plastic at the bottom of the bag.
Step 2: The shrink-wrap needs to be heated.
If you want to shrink the plastic to the pallet and its items, start at the base and use a heat or shrink gun.Follow the instructions on the heat or shrink gun's website. There is a video guide at the bottom of this guide. The top of the bag should be secured after the base is secured.Seal each side of the pallet with a slow back-and-forth sweeping motion once the base and top are secured. There are different heating implements. When it comes to operation, be sure to follow your separate instructions for safety, how far to hold the shrink gun from the pallet, and how long to apply heat for.
Step 3: Take your work to be inspected.
Before you can inspect your work, you need to turn off and store your heating implement.A properly shrink-wrapped pallet should feel like a single unit, with no wobbling or instability of its contents.Thank you!You have wrapped a pallet.
Step 4: Prepare your plastic film by choosing and preparing.
The pallet should be loaded according to the instructions.Take a yard of plastic and squeeze the ends together into a rope. The film is more common and less expensive. It is usually used to wrap items individually. It is a better choice for heavy jobs because it is less brittle and has less odor.
Step 5: Wrap the base of the pallet around.
Wrap your film around the pallet and the base of the items that you have stacked on it.It is important to keep the film tight.Wait until you get used to it.
Step 6: The base should be strong.
Wrap the base enough times to make sure the plastic is snug.It should stick to itself.Wrap it at least four or five times because it's the most important part. The wrap needs to go under the corners of the pallet.
Step 7: Wrap the rest of the items
All items will be secured to the base of the pallet by moving up as you wrap film around it.The one below should be wrapped firmly as well.Take as much stretch as you can out of the plastic film.
Step 8: Wrap things up.
You can either wrap the top of the pallet or wrap it back down.Wrap the job back down to the base of the pallet if it looks thin or loose. There is a dangerous pallet.Once the pallet is firm, tear the film off of the roll and fold it under one of its own layers. This will prevent your wrap job from being undone.
Step 9: The shrink-wrap needs to be heated if necessary.
For most heavy or industrial jobs you will want to heat the shrink-wrap to ensure the safety of both the items and any people that might be working with them.If the pallet is going to be transported or stored for an extended period of time, this is especially true.
Step 10: Make sure your workspace is ready.
A clean, cool area with plenty of space on each side of the pallet is what you will want to work in.You will want to make sure that your pallet is sturdy and the right size for your items. If you use a pallet that is too large or small, you will be putting yourself and your items at risk.
Step 11: The base of your pallet can be stacked.
The largest and heaviest items should be placed on the bottom of the pallet.Try to keep as much space as possible. The stability of the pallet is dependent on having a tight, secure base.Don't leave a lot of space between your items.Shrink-wrapping can cause the plastic to tear. The rest of your job will be easier if you organize the base of the pallet.Taking care of this step will save you time and energy in the long run.
Step 12: You should stack the rest of your pallet.
Place your remaining items on the pallet and organize them in a way that occupies as much of the base as possible without going over its edges. All items should be as close to one another as possible, with little or no space between them to shift. All items should be neatly stacked. They can shift within the shrink wrap, rendering it ineffective and potentially endangering both your items and people.Don't stack your pallet too high.A cube is the ideal shape for a pallet.Raising the center of gravity can cause a pallet to be too big for a heat shrink bag.
