Patrick Sharp says goodbye to the home finale of the Hawks.

Patrick Sharp is a former professional ice hockey player who played 15 seasons in the National Hockey League for Philadelphia, Chicago, and Dallas.NBC Sports hired Sharp as an analyst after he retired as a player.

Sharp played collegiate hockey at the University of Vermont before he was drafted by the Flyers.He began his NHL career with the Philadelphia organization, but was traded to the Chicago organization in 2005.He won the Stanley Cup three times with the Hawks.He spent two seasons with the Stars after he was traded to them.Sharp won an Olympic gold medal for Canada at the Winter Games.

The first time Sharp played hockey he was for the Thunder Bay Kings in the Ontario Hockey League.After playing hockey for the University of Vermont, he was selected in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers.

After two years with Vermont, Sharp made his NHL debut in 2003–04, splitting the season between the Flyers and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, recording seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) in 41 regular season games.Sharp scored 23 goals and 29 assists (52 points) in 75 regular-season games for the Phantoms in the 2004–05 NHL Lockout and went on to win the Calder Cup.

Sharp, along with ric Meloche, was traded to the Chicago Hawks in exchange for Matt Ellison and a third-round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.He finished the season with 31 points for the two teams.In 2007, Sharp had career-highs of 36 goals, 26 assists and 62 points.He scored nine power play goals, seven shorthanded goals and seven game-winning goals.Sharp signed a new four-year contract with the Hawks near the half-way mark of the season on January 17, 2008.

Sharp was named an alternate captain for the Hawks at the start of the 2008–09 season.Despite being limited by injuries, Sharp helped the Hawks form a highly offensive and young core led by second-year forwards Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and newly acquired defenceman Brian Campbell.He had 44 points in 61 games.He had 11 points in the playoffs in 2009, but the Hawks were eliminated by the Red Wings.

On June 9, 2010, Sharp won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Bears.During the 2010 playoffs, he contributed 11 goals and 11 assists.

Sharp was named the Most Valuable Player in the NHL All-Star Game on January 30, 2011.He signed a new five-year contract with Chicago on August 3, 2011, which came into effect for the 2012–13 season and carried an annual salary cap hit of $5.9 million.Sharp had an emergency appendectomy in September of 2011.Sharp was expected to have a full recovery in about three to four weeks.[5]

On November 25, 2011, in a 6–5 win against the Anaheim Ducks, Sharp scored his second career NHL hat-trick.Jonathan Toews recorded the primary assists on all three of Sharp's goals.Sharp finished the season with 33 goals and 36 assists.He scored a goal in the first round of the playoffs.

Many of his teammates started playing for European leagues while Sharp remained in Chicago.He was involved in Gillette's "My City is My Gym" fitness program and spent time with his nine-month-old daughter.Sharp played 28 games in the shortened NHL season, recording 6 goals and 14 assists and a plus-minus rating of +8.Sharp scored his third career NHL hat-trick in a 7–2 win against the Colorado Avs.He scored his fourth NHL hat-trick in a 5–3 win against New Jersey on January 3, 2014.On January 7, he was named to the Canadian Olympic team.It was [13].

He won his third Stanley Cup in 2015.He had five goals and 10 assists.There are no comments at this time.

On July 10, 2015, due to salary cap issues, Sharp was traded to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Ryan Garbutt.[15]

He added a goal and an assist in a 4–0 victory against his former team.In his first year in Dallas, he recorded 20 goals and 35 assists.
