The speaker is weak.Sometimes, you just need more volume. You can amplify the sound of your phone using paper cups. They won't be as good as the store-bought speakers, but they'll do in a pinch. This project will work on most other types of phones, even if you don't have an Apple device.
Step 1: There are two paper cups and a toilet paper roll.
You can use an empty paper towel roll if you can't find a toilet paper roll.Cut the paper towel roll in half to make your speakers stronger.
Step 2: Place the base of your phone on the paper roll.
Roll down in front of you.The base of your phone should be in the center of the roll.Make sure your phone is facing you.To trace around the base of your phone, use a pen or pencil.Set your phone aside when you are done. This method can be used on other phones and music players.
Step 3: Use a box cutter or a craft knife to cut out the partway.
Use the knife to cut out the sides of the rectangle. The back edge should be left uncut.
Step 4: At a 90 degree angle, fold the rectangles up.
This will make a tab for your phone to rest against.
Step 5: To trace a circle on the side of each cup, use a pen or pencil and a paper roll.
The circles should be placed close to the cup.The speakers won't amplify very well if you make the circles too high.
Step 6: Cut the circles with a craft knife or box cutter.
Cut inside the lines you drew. The paper roll can fit inside the holes.
Step 7: The cups should be put on the paper roll.
The cups should not be pushed all the way onto the roll. There should be at least 1 to 2 inches on each side.Draw a line of hot glue around the joint/seam if the cups jiggle too much on the paper tube. This will make your speakers more stable.
Step 8: If you wish, decorate your speakers.
The speakers should be painted with spray paint or acrylic paint.Wait until the paint is dry, then add more designs. You can use colored or patterned duct tape to wrap the paper tube.
Step 9: The phone should be placed in the slot.
The speaker part of the phone should be inside the slot. You can enjoy the music by hitting the play and speaker buttons.
Step 10: You can find a wide paper cup for your phone.
Make sure the base of the cup is wide enough for the phone to fit in.This method can also be used on other types of phones and music players.
Step 11: To trace the base of your phone, use a pen or pencil.
Try to get as close to the bottom of the cup as possible. The base of the cup needs to be parallel to the phone's back.
Step 12: Use a box cutter or craft knife to cut out the partway.
You can cut the sides and the front with a knife. The back edge should be left uncut.
Step 13: At a 90 degree angle, fold the rectangular object up.
A small tab will be created for your phone to rest against. You can cut a slit down the center of the tab.
Step 14: Put the phone into the hole and put the cup on the side.
To keep your phone upright, hold the cup steady.
Step 15: To keep the cup from rolling, hot glue a pencil to it.
Place a pencil on either side of the cup while holding the speaker.Push the pencils towards the cup.Attach the pencils to the cup with hot glue.Let go of the speaker when the glue is set.The pencils will hold it steady.
Step 16: If you wish, you can decorate the speaker.
The speaker should be painted using spray paint.Wait until the paint is dry.You can decorate the sides with stickers or wrap washi tape around the rim.
Step 17: The phone should be put into the slot.
If you are using another type of phone, make sure the speaker is in the slot. You can enjoy the music by pressing the play and speaker buttons on your phone.
Step 18: There are two paper cups the same size.
The cups need to be the same size to make a speaker. The speaker won't work if one cup is bigger than the other.
Step 19: Use a craft knife or box cutter to cut the bottom off of the cup.
The knife should be positioned against the side of the cup.Go through the wall of the cup with the knife.Use a sawing motion to cut around the base of the cup.For both cups, do this.
Step 20: Right against the bottom edge, draw a rectangular shape on the side of each cup.
Half the width of the phone is needed for the rectangle to be the same thickness. The bottom edge of the cup should be aligned with the narrow ends. You will eventually get a slot for your phone to go into. This method can also be used for other types of phones and music players.
Step 21: The rectangle should be cut.
You can use a craft knife, box cutter, or a pair of scissors. The slot on the cups will shrink if you cut out the rectangles a few millimeters longer than they are.
Step 22: Take the bottom of the cup and put it into the other.
If you overlap the tWP cups too much, your phone may not fit inside. The cups should be twisted until they match up.Make sure your phone is not too small by sliding it into the slot.
Step 23: Put a piece of tape on the cups.
Wrap the tape around the cups.Place the ends of the tape into the slot.
Step 24: Attach the speaker to the table and put the phone in the slot.
If you need to widen the slot, use a craft knife or box cutter. You should hold the speakers until you like the angle.
Step 25: Glue a bottle to the front and back of the speaker.
You can still hold your speaker at the angle you want, but you should put a bottle cap in front of the speaker and another behind it.They need to be aligned with the seam.Attach the bottle caps to the speakers with hot glue.Let go of the speaker once the glue sets. The bottle caps should hold it together. You can use Lego bricks or small rocks if you don't have bottle caps.
Step 26: If you wish, decorate your speakers.
The speakers should be painted using spray paint.Wait until the paint is dry.The washi tape can be wrapped around the cup rim and slot edges.Stars or lightning bolts can be decorated with stickers.
Step 27: The phone is in the slot.
If you are using another type of phone, make sure the speaker is inside the slit. You can play the music on your phone by hitting the play and speaker buttons.
