Place two cups with hooks on them at the other end of the crab's tank.Cut a piece of cloth into a circle. The length and width of the tank should be less than the rectangle. There are two small holes at each end.The holes should line up with the cups.Make loops by stringing through the holes.Place the loops over the hooks on the cups to hang the hammock. The hammock should be placed 1/2 to 2 inches above where you want it to be.Make sure the holes are in the right place. Before you pierce the cloth, hold the ends of the hammock against the tank.
Step 2: Make a tree.
Attach bio-vine to four small vines. The bottom three vines are the legs of the tree and the other vine is the trunk.Attach silk leaves to the vine by opening small openings. The leaves should be placed in the slit. The leaves should be secured to the vine once they are in position. The leaves should not be secured with glue.Glue is harmful to your crab.Keeping the leaves secure is accomplished by twisting the vines around them.As you like, add as many or as few leaves as you please. If there are more leaves, the tree will look better. The crab likes climbing on the tree and hiding under the leaves. You can find all of these items at your local pet store. You can tie a tree to a piece of driftwood by tying fishing line or cotton thread to the tree's stems. The bottom of the tree stem should be removed to keep it upright.
Step 3: The tank should have some driftwood in it.
Your crab will be happy to have some wood in it's habitat. The tank should only be used with dry driftwood. There is enough space for your crab to climb and play in pieces that have a lot of texture. When you clean your crab's tank, remove the driftwood.Put the driftwood in the microwave to dry and wash it with hot water.Don't use detergent or soap to clean the driftwood. There are chemicals that can be harmful to your crab. You can put dried choya wood, coral, and barnacles in your crab's tank as well.

Step 6: Coconut fiber can be used.
Coconut fiber is made from coconut. When you purchase Forest Bedding, Eco-Earth, it is a hard brick and must be prepared before you put it in the tank.Put the brick in a large bowl and fill it with water until you can break it apart with your hands. While it is moist, add the coconut fiber to the tank. Some of the coconut fiber will be eaten by your crab.It contains minerals that they need.Salt water can be used to fix coconut fiber.Coconut fiber attracts gnats. If you see bugs in the tank, you need to clean it and replace it.Sand and coconut fiber can be combined.A 5:1 ration of sand to coconut fiber is used.
Step 7: A cave made of plastic.
There is a way to make a cave for your crab.To make a cave, cut the pipe in half and bury it.The pipe can be buried vertically or horizontally. The cut pipes can be placed side by side for a different look. Before you put it into the crab's tank, rinse it with clean water.Make sure the cave is big enough to hold your crab.
Step 8: You can make a clay hiding place.
Purchase a new terracotta flower plot and use it as a hiding place. The flower pot should be placed on its side so that it is secure. You can make your own piece of pottery and put it in the tank. When making your own pottery pieces, only use natural clay.Don't glue, paint, or glaze the clay pieces. The chemicals are harmful to your crab.Sand paper can be used to remove any rough edges from your pot.

Hermit crabs like to hide and play. The crab's habitat should include different materials and shapes.A mix of open and hiding space is ideal. You can adjust your crab's habitat based on his personality and preferences if you have toys that he likes.Plants, vines, and rocks can be used for hiding. You can attach rocks to the outside of a clay pot.Attach rocks with aquarium safe Silicone only.
Step 10: Treat your rocks by testing them.
If you collect rocks instead of buying them from the pet store, you need to make sure they are safe to put in the tank. You can wash and scrub the rocks. The rocks are not safe to use.The rocks should be placed in a bucket of water with some bleach. The rocks should be allowed to soak for 24 hours. After 48 hours, rinse the rocks and put them in a bucket of water. The clean water should be changed every 12 hours to make sure the bleach is gone.Allow the rocks to cool before you use them, and boil them for 8 hours in a pot of water. If you don't want to go through this process, you can buy rocks from the pet store that have already been sanitized.
