Green tea lattes are a great way to boost your immune system because they are rich in anti-oxidants and other health benefits. The drink requires a powdered form of green tea known as matcha, and you can prepare it in either hot or iced form.
Step 1: Take the green tea powder and mix it with water.
If you want to pass the powder through a small sifter, add the matcha to a mug that can hold at least 8 ounces. If you sift the powdered green tea into your cup, it will break up clumps and make the tea easier to drink.Short, wide cups work better than tall, skinny cups. When the cup has a wide mouth, it will be easier to fit whisks and other tools into it.
Step 2: The water should be heated.
Bring the tea kettle to a boil with a small amount of water.Take it out of the heat and put it in a measuring cup.The water should be ready before the kettle sounds. If the tea kettle reaches a whistle, pour out the necessary cup and let it rest for at least 60 seconds before moving on.If you don't have a tea kettle, cook the water in a saucepan.Don't use boiling water for the next step. The taste and nutrition of the tea can be negatively affected by boiling water.
Step 3: The water and green tea are wet.
The green tea powder should be put into the hot water.Use a bamboo whisk to make a paste-like green tea base for your latte. When you finish whisking the two ingredients together, there should be no leftover lump.If you need a metal whisk, you could also use bamboo whisks.A handheld frother would combine the water and green tea powder.
Step 4: Milk and sugar can be heated.
If you want, add sugar or honey to the milk.Place the saucepan on the stove and warm it until bubbles form around the edges.Milk should not reach a full boil. The milk should not get very hot.The ideal temperature is about 150 degrees Fahrenheit.Whole milk is one of the types of milk you can use for this recipe. You can use both.Milks that are lower in fat may not produce as much foam.
Step 5: If you want, pour the milk.
If you want to make a foamy latte, submerge a handheld milk frother into the warm milk and switch it on.For 30 seconds, run the frother to create your desired level of foam.To concentrate the process at the surface of the milk, dip the frother beneath it.If you don't have a frother, whisking the milk with a metal whisk will produce foam.Using a whisk will take longer than using a frother. If you skip this step, you will end up with a latte that lacks an initial layer of froth.
Step 6: The tea should be put into the milk.
Slowly pour the hot, foamy milk into the mug.To combine, stir carefully. The green tea base should be combined with the milk using a stirring rod or spoon. The upper layer of foam is destroyed when stir gently. If you didn't froth the milk before adding it, you can whisk the green tea and milk together.A thin layer of foam should be created on top of your latte.
Step 7: Enjoy.
The green tea latte is ready to drink.Add a sprinkle of tea or honey to the latte.
Step 8: The water and milk should be microwaved.
In a mason jar, combine the milk and water. The jar should be microwaved for 2 minutes.Milk can heat up in the microwave. It should start bubbling, but not reach a full boil.Whole-fat dairy milk will produce the most foam, but you can use nearly any type of milk.As the fat content decreases, the amount of foam will decrease. For this amount of latte, the jar should be small, but large if necessary.
Step 9: Green tea powder can be added to the tea.
The hot milk mixture should be sprinkled with the matcha.Do you want to add sugar or honey now? It's a good idea to sift the powder into the hot milk since it can develop clumps as it sits.It will make the powder easier to mix.Green tea can be bitter on its own, so while sweeteners are not necessary, they are recommended.Dry sweeteners like sugar and stevia work better than liquid sweeteners.
Step 10: Disregard the jar.
Seal the jar tightly with its lid, then shake it for a full 60 seconds until the drink inside looks foamy. If you want to protect your hands from the heat, you may need to use oven mitts or a kitchen towel. If you don't have a jar with a lid, you can use a handheld immersion blender or a small one.If you want to evenly combine the ingredients, process them for 10 to 20 seconds.A thin layer of foam should be developed on the surface of the latte.
Step 11: It's time to enjoy.
The mug has at least 8 ounces of green tea in it.It should be finished and ready to drink. If you want, you can add more matcha powder or add a dash of honey.
Step 12: The ingredients must be combined.
The ice should be placed in the bottom of the cocktail shaker. You can also add water, milk, and any desired sweetener to the shaker. The green tea powder could be put into a container.Break up the clumps before mixing the drink to allow the powder to spread more evenly.Milk can be used for this drink.Iced lattes are less foamy than hot lattes, but the type of milk used will affect the amount of froth produced.Non-fat dairy and non-dairy milks may produce very little, while whole dairy milk will usually create the most.Cocktail shakers work well for this process, but if you don't have one, the next best option would be a jar with a lid.If neither option is available, you can still prepare the iced latte in a wide-mouthed glass and combine all of the ingredients except the ice, which can hold at least 8 ounces.
Step 13: You should shake well.
Shake it vigorously for at least 60 seconds. If ready, the drink should be foamy and evenly colored. When making a drink in a glass, use a bamboo or metal whisk to whisk the ingredients together. You can combine the three ingredients using an immersion blender, which will process them together for about 10 to 20 seconds.
Step 14: The ice should be added to serving glasses.
Divide the ice between the glasses.A minimum of 1 cup must be held in each glass. One large latte can be made instead of two smaller ones.A tall glass is capable of holding at least 2 cups.
Step 15: The latte should be put in the glasses.
If you want to retain the original ice, pour the green tea latte through the spout and into the glasses.Pour the prepared drink over the ice for lattes in a glass or bowl.If it isn't as cold as you want it to be, try chilling it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes or the freezer for 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 16: Enjoy the time.
The green tea latte is ready to drink. If you were not able to make enough foam for your iced latte, you can add a small amount of whipped cream. If you want to improve the presentation, sprinkle the whipped cream or froth with more matcha.
