Lanzones, also known as langsat, is a fruit tree that grows in Southeast Asia.Lanzone trees can take a long time to bear fruit. If you have patience and follow the right steps, you can grow a tree from the fruit's seeds or from langsat seedlings.
Step 1: Get your seeds from trees that have fruit.
The seeds can be obtained from the fruit. There is a tree that grows good tasting fruit. The largest green seeds can be found in the fruit's pulp.As soon as you get the seeds from the fruit, plant them.If you wait longer than eight days, they won't grow. You can buy seeds online or in a store.
Step 2: The seeds need to be removed.
There is a sticky substance around the seed. You can run the seeds under the water to remove the substance. This substance will be removed if you purchase seeds from the store.
Step 3: The seeds need to be planted in sandy loam.
Put the seeds in the small holes and cover them with the soil.It is possible to do this in an indoor planter.Sandy loam is acidic to neutral and has a lot of organic material. If some of the langsat seeds don't grow, it's a good idea to plant multiple seeds.
Step 4: The seeds should be kept in the sunlight for 15 hours a day.
Young seeds need a lot of sunlight to grow.Place your seed beds in a window facing south or set your light timer to give your seeds 15 hours of light per day if you are growing indoors.
Step 5: Every day, water the seeds.
Water your seeds with a watering can after you plant them.Keep the soil moist and not flooded by returning the seeds every day.If you put your finger into the soil, you can see if it is moist or dry.
Step 6: The seeds need at least 2 weeks to grow.
You should be able to see your seeds grow in a few weeks. The plants will take about 10-18 months to be planted outside. It could take anywhere between 10 and 30 years for a tree to bear fruit.
Step 7: It's important to make sure the climate is suitable for your area.
Lanzone trees thrive in warm climates. These trees can be found outdoors. If you plan on growing a langsat tree, make sure you live in a climate that promotes its growth. In the United States, Hawaii and parts of the Florida Keys are the best places to grow Lanzone trees. You will need to amend the soil.
Step 8: The shaded area has a lot of organic matter.
Lanzone trees prefer shaded areas. You can find a location with sandy loam soil or acidic soil.Lanzone trees do not grow in clay or alkaline soils.
Step 9: The holes should be at least 25 to 33 ft apart.
To mark 25 to 33 ft from each tree, use a tape measure. If you plant trees too close together, they will not be healthy.
Step 10: 50 cm deep and wide are what the holes are.
50 cm wide holes will hold the roots of the tree. You can use a shovel or hoe to dig holes that are deep enough to cover the root ball of your tree.
Step 11: The backfill soil in the bottom of the hole should be mixed with a 6/6/6 fertilization product.
The growth of your tree will be promoted by the use of thisfertilizer.Adding the same compost to your tree two to three times a year will help it grow into an adult tree.
Step 12: The tree should be planted into the hole
The hole has a langsat tree in it.Press down on the soil around the trunk of the tree to help stabilizing it after it's in the hole.Immediately water it once you're done.
Step 13: fertilize your tree twice a year.
A month after you plant your tree and a month before the rainy season, you should fertilize it with 200g of ammonia sulfate. If the tree starts to bear fruit, you will want to change thefertilizer you're using to a complete 14-14 so that you can provide it with more resources. At the peak of fruiting, 2 kgs of 14-14-14 should be applied annually.
Step 14: To keep the soil moist, water the trees.
You won't need to water your trees frequently if they are growing outside. You should water the plants every day if they are growing inside or there is a dry period.Keep the soil moist. It is possible to test this by poking your finger into the soil.It is well watered if it is an inch under the surface.
Step 15: You should Prune your tree.
The top half of the tree should be cut off once your tree grows to 1.5 meters. The tree should be at least a meter tall. This will encourage the growth of your tree's branches. There are dead or dying branches in your tree.Pruning off clusters of flowers will help the growth of the fruit.
Step 16: The fruit should be Harvested 140-150 days after flower formation.
When the sun is not hot, it is a good time to harvest the fruit.Use shears or a knife to cut the fruit. If you detach the fruit's branch where it connects to the tree, it won't be able to grow fruit on that branch in the future.
