The oil from ripe avocados can be used in a number of ways, from cooking and frying to hair and skin treatments. It is more economical to prepare the oil at home than it is to buy it.It is easy to extract the oil, and you can use it in a variety of ways, from baking to making fresh guacamole.
Step 1: Remove the skin from the 12 avocados.
Cut the avocados in half and wash them. The knife can be used to cut around the pit until the two halves come apart.Put the fruit of the avocados in a food processor or blender by using a spoon. The skin and pit should be thrown away.
Step 2: Put the avocados in a bowl.
The puree setting should be turned onto the food processor or blender. The fruit should be mixed with a smooth paste.Put the blended avocados in a medium-sized pot.
Step 3: The food should be cooked on medium heat.
The avocados should be in the pot by the time the oven is turned on.When the mixture starts to boil, you should notice that the oil is rising to the top.
Step 4: When the mixture gets dark, cook it.
The water has evaporated and the mixture has changed from a light green to a dark green or brown.
Step 5: Put the mixture in the bowl.
The mixture should be spooned into a bowl when it stops cooking.Place a clean, thin cloth on top of the bowl and pinch the corners together so that you have a sack ofavocado.
Step 6: To strain the fruit, squeeze it.
To get the oil out of the bowl, squeeze the sack ofavocado over it.Dropping the oil into the bowl is how it should happen.Keep changing your grip and squeezing until the oil stops coming out.
Step 7: Place the oil in a container.
You can put the oil from the bowl into a bottle or container with a lid.Your oil is ready to use.
Step 8: The fruit should be removed from the twelve avocados.
Do a scoop with the knife to separate the two halves of the avocados after slicing them in half around the pit.Use a spoon to scoop out the fruit of the avocados.Disregard the pit.The fruit of the avocados can be used in recipes.
Step 9: The skins should be placed in an orange press.
Take the skins that you separated and put them on top of each other.Put the stack of skins in the press. An orange press is designed to juice oranges and other fruit, but it also does a good job of pressing the oil out of fruit skins.
Step 10: Press the skin of the fruit.
Pull the lever of the orange press until the mallet touches the skins.Pull the lever as hard as you can.The mallet will squeeze out the oil from the skins. The oil should fall under the press. If you don't know how it works, consult the instructions on the orange press.
Step 11: Wait until the oil stops leaking.
The skins should be pressed several times to get all the oil.Reposition the skins so that you can press the un-pressed areas if not all the surface is being pressed.
Step 12: The oil should be strained.
Go to the bottom of the press. There are bits of fruit or skin floating in the oil.If you see anything other than oil in the reservoir, you can strain the oil by placing a coffee strainer inside a bowl and pouring it into the bowl. The coffee filter will catch any chunks of the fruit.
Step 13: If you want to bottle the oil filter, let it go.
The strainer should be over the bowl. This will allow the oil that is sticking to the avocados to trickle into the bowl.Put the oil into a bottle and seal it.
Step 14: Take out the fruit of twelve.
Use a knife to scoop around the pit and separate the halves of the avocados.Put the fruit in the food processor.
Step 15: Put the fruit in the processor.
If you want to make a thick paste from the avocados, puree them in the food processor after you have plucked out the fruit. If you don't have a food processor, you can mashed the avocados.
Step 16: Spread the fruit on the tray.
Use a spatula to spread the mashed avocado out on the baking tray, as thin a layer as you can.The layer should be half an inch thick.
Step 17: The tray should be put in the oven.
Put the tray into the oven after you have spread theavocado out.The temperature shouldn't be set to more than 155 degrees F (50 degrees C).Don't bake it, you're trying to dry it out.You can put the tray outside to dry in the sun for a couple of days.
Step 18: Theavocado can be kept in the oven for 5 hours.
Theavocado should be put in the oven for five hours.Make sure the avocados aren't burning by checking every hour.If it is turning black, take it out of the oven.
Step 19: The tray has an object in it.
Take the baking pan out of the oven after five hours. If you want to scratch off the pan's avocado layer, use a spatula.Place the scraps in a piece of cloth.
Step 20: The sack ofavocado should be squeezed into the bowl.
Lift up the cloth and pinch the corners together to make a sack.Put as much force as you can into squeezing the dried fruit into the bowl.If you don't know if you have squeezed all of theavocado, read your grip. When the avocados stop yielding oil, stop.
Step 21: Put the oil into a bottle.
When you have squeezed all of the oil into the bowl, you should discard the cloth and dried fruit.Put the oil into a bottle.
