There was a critical point that you left out.If the BR30 is more efficient and produces more light with less power, what wattage do I need to replace a 65W r30?I don't want the lightbulbs I replace to be brighter or dimmer than the ones I have not replaced yet.

Most of the time they are interchangeable.I have a bunch of narrow aluminum-barreled wall sconces and the extra bulge in BR30 bottoms before I screw in all the way.Great information, though!I haven't been able to find old school R30's.Why wouldn't someone still make R30's that are less efficient?

The salesman was not sure if the BR30 would be hot for my lighting.There is a sticker on the housing that says a PAR30 but it is an indoor fixture.

New flood lights for indoors.R30 is what the sockets says to use.BR30 is a newer rating.They won't light in the sockets.Is there a difference in style or something else?All 3 sockets worked before.The renovation was done in 1990.

A BR30 is not more efficient in producing light than an R30 because it focuses the light onto a smaller area where there is more light.If a person needs the light to cover a larger area, this is not better.
