The app wakes up when it detects driving. It fires up the sensors and monitors the incoming data for events that look like car crashes. How does Life360 detect a crash?
Life360 detects drives by analyzing phone location and activity to determine when someone is driving. Drives must be at least 1/2 mile in duration with a speed of over 15 mph. During a drive, potentially unsafe events, such as phone usage, high speed, hard braking, and rapid acceleration are detected.
How do you trigger crash detection?
- The vehicle needs to be moving at a sustained speed of least at 25 mph for at least 30 seconds before the collision.
