Is it safe to refreeze meat after a freezer break?
It took me several hours to realize that my compressor went out. There was still ice slush in the freezer compartment even though the meat was no longer frozen solid.I loaded it with meat from the club, but I don't want to get food poisoning. There are decisions, decisions...
If the meat was still cold, you should be able to refreeze it.It's not like opening the bags and exposing them to the outside is what you were doing.
To refreeze would destroy the food value and taste of the meat.It is fine to do other than that.
You can refreeze it if it is partially frozen. If you put the most thawed stuff in the fridge, you can cook it in a few days.It is easy to keep meat in the fridge for 72 to 96 hours.
Do you get food from meat?Vegetables and dairy are usually where you get it.If you cook meat at high heat it will kill all thebacteria that would hurt you anyways.
Red meat will turn brown if it has been out too long.It can take several hours for chicken to go bad.I cook meat all day long in my sink.I usually just put it in the fridge, but sometimes I set it out.If you only had a few hours, your meat did not completely thaw, but it should be fine.I would thaw it and cook it.
Refreezing meat is fine.I did a lot of research on-line and found that it's perfectly safe to do so.I am positive that you can refreeze meat, despite the fact that it is a well known myth.
The re-freezing of meat doesn't make it more susceptible tobacteria. It will ruin the meat's flavor. It's ok to do, but I suggest you get the biggest knife you have and try to cut it up some and stick what you don't want to use right away back in the freezer. The temperature danger zone is between 41 and 141 degrees. The temperature at whichbacteria thrive. The meat won't reach 41 degrees if you thaw it in the refrigerator.
If you think the meat is still good, don't refreeze it.It's time for a big BBQ.
It's fine if there are still crystals near the meat. The temp has not been above freezing because there is still slush.
