Is it possible to make laminate flooring waterproof with a sealant?
The flooring is not waterproof. It is not 100% waterproof despite the fact that many floors have protective cores. When planning an installation in kitchens, foyers and laundry rooms, many people ask, can I use laminate flooring sealant to make it waterproof?
The aluminum oxide surface of the flooring should never be touched.Applying a sealant is a bad idea and should never be applied to the surface of the flooring.Adding a protective sealant can void your warranty, which can cause more harm than good.
If you want to make your laminate flooring more resistant to water, you should only apply the sealant to the joints. It is not possible to glue laminate flooring to the subfloor as it limits the floor's ability to expand and contract effectively.General wood glue can be found at any home improvement store. As you install, be sure to wipe off any excess glue.
We recommend investing in vinyl plank flooring if you are looking for waterproof flooring.Bestlaminate has a variety of vinyl plank floors that are waterproof. If you're still interested in purchasing laminate flooring, you should check out Quick-Step as it's a more moisture resistant option than others.
If you don't want to change your flooring just remember that laminate flooring sealant only applies to the joints and not the surface.Write your questions in the comment section below.
Thanks for reaching out, Edward.Over the years, we have seen many uses of laminate flooring.Although we have not done it before and it is not a traditional way to use laminate, we imagine that you could use it to make a lazy susan! We want to see photos of your project.
Thank you for your question. This can be a big problem. You can't seal the joints after the floor is installed. It can be difficult to clean this up right away. You could try to keep your dog out of the laminate. You can have a problem with the top coat after an accident if it gets into the wood.
The flooring was installed in our home. How can I tell if our dog is peeing on our new flooring and what to do about it?
Thank you for your comment. We don't carry the Traffic Master Allure floor, so if you have any questions about the waterproof features of this floor or the warranty information, you should reach out to the manufacturer or store where you purchased the floor.Thank you!
Vinyl isn't a solution.Traffic Master Allure claims to be waterproof. Not true. There are gaps on the corners.I put it on a particle board.I have a hill.I don't think an interlocking tile system can be waterproof at the points where the long edge and short edge meet.
