Is fresh mozzarella the same thing as a queso fresco?
A long time ago I had tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and I don't remember what it tasted like, but I want to make it again.I've never seen fresh mozzarella at the store. In the west coast, they have queso fresco, which is delicious. Is it possible to substitute fresh mozzarella with queso fresco?

Specialty cheese can be found in some stores near the deli or over by the regular cheeses.Maybe they have fresh because Pavillions is kind of high-end.At least our Ralphs have it.Also, Costco.
Buffalo milk is used to make the best mozzarella.European bufalo aren't bison.Don't expect to find it in your store.Look for Italian stores or Whole Foods.
Mozzarella is made by heating the raw cheese in water and pulling it so that it sticks together. It's not made that way and doesn't hold up to acidic dressings.I like to cook with queso fresco on my salads. It is less expensive than Feta.
