It is hard. It can be very hard. Many strategies and techniques we use as ABA professionals have taken us graduate level coursework, years of experience, and a super thick skin to implement correctly. ABA is often the opposite of “taking the easy road”.
Is it hard being an RBT?
There are many difficult things about working as an RBT (pay, dealing with maladaptive behaviors, physical toll, etc) but I would say the hardest for me was the sense of isolation I felt. I was an ABA therapist that did almost exclusively in-home therapy.
