The project is intended for parents and children to have fun together. It will allow the kids to get away from technology and allow you to spend some quality time with them.Your kids will enjoy tinkering with this creation. It's a great way to spend time with the kids when you feel like building some memories and you want to recycle the light bulbs that no longer glow.
Step 1: In order to get started, you have to gather the tools that you need.
For the beginning, you need a flat head screwdriver, scissors, and needle-nose pliers. The things you'll need section has all of the materials required.
Step 2: A light bulb is a good starting point.
Globe light bulbs are the best for this project.Light bulbs that are burned out can be used to save money. The soft white bulbs are too fragile to work with.
Step 3: The inside of the light bulb should be hollowed out.
If you want to catch falling glass, place a cardboard box under the light bulb. This step involves breaking glass and goggles are needed. This part is done by adults.
Step 4: The metal tip of the light bulb can be removed with needle-nose pliers.
The metal tip should be pushed away from the black glass part.
Step 5: Hold on tightly to one side of the bulb.
Remove the metal piece. When this is done, you will feel some wires snapping.
Step 6: Carefully remove the black glass.
To break the glass, you need to hold one side of it with pliers and twist it up.The black glass is thick and it takes some force to break it.It is very important to be careful while doing this step.
Step 7: Look at the bulb.
The inside parts of the light bulb will be visible at this step.
Step 8: The screwdriver can be used as a lever from the bottom to snap the interior tube.
As the gas escapes, it will make a sound. The tube is contained in the remaining glass.Hold the light bulb firmly, it takes a little force to do this.If you keep the screwdriver away from the bulb, it will not break.
Step 9: Use the pliers to remove the remaining wires and glass tube.
Step 10: Shake the light bulb after putting salt into it.
This will remove the white substance from the light bulb.
Step 11: There are bits of glass around the interior edge and you can break them with a screwdriver.
The light bulb is hollow. It was the most difficult part of the project.
Step 12: Obtain sand.
Make sure you have enough sand for the cookie sheet. The sand can be obtained from a beach or a garden store. To remove non-sand materials from beach sand, rinse it thoroughly.
Step 13: Spread the sand on a cookie sheet.
Put it in the oven.It will be very hot when you take it out.The oven mitts are suitable.
Step 14: Make sure the sand is dry.
The sand will stick to the light bulb if there is any condensation left in the hourglass.
Step 15: About 14 of the dry sand should be put under the silver rim.
To make it easier to pour, use a funnel or folded piece of cardboard.
Step 16: The plastic bottle caps on the light bulbs need to be tightened.
The light bulbs will be tighter. If you want the sand to flow through, you need to put a hole in the center of both. The picture gives you an idea of what you have to do.
Step 17: The frame should be built.
You can make it any way you want it to look. The whole job can be done with a simple hand saw.You will need a hammer and measuring tape. You need four columns, a base, and a top for the frame.
Step 18: So far, look at your work.
You can see that there are three columns.
Step 19: Go ahead and do a mock-up.
The part in which you set up your materials is what you want it to look like.Glue the light bulbs and build the frame around them after you see the mock-up.
