Because mugs are oblong, gift wrapping or packing them for a move can feel awkward. The task can be transformed from cumbersome to doable by knowing the right wrapping technique.Tissue paper, mugs, and packing paper can be used to give a clean and professional packing job.Handle the mug with care to prevent it from breaking.
Step 1: Cut a strand of ribbon.
The amount of ribbon you need depends on how long of a bow you want and the mug you have.Wrap the mug's mouth with ribbon. If you want a large or small bow, you should cut at least that much ribbon. The ribbon needs to be cut at an angle. It doesn't matter if the angling is straight across or not.
Step 2: Take a few layers of tissue paper.
In an upright position, place your mug in the center.Choose tissue paper that is long enough to wrap the mug.You won't be able to fully close your job if it's any shorter. There is a layer with multiple colors of tissue paper.
Step 3: The mug has tissue paper over it.
Take the corners of the tissue paper and put them over the mug.Pick up the ends in the middle. As you finish the finishing steps, hold the middle so it doesn't come undone. To keep the hold from coming apart, place a rubber band around the middle.
Step 4: Wrap the tissue paper.
Adding cellophane to your gift wrap will add a decorative sheen.Place the mug over a square of tissue squares and wrap it around your mug, just like you did with the tissues. You can tint a square in a color of your choice. The tissue paper is thin and can rip.
Step 5: Attach the ribbon to the mug.
The ribbon should be wrapped around the middle of the tissue. You can either tie it in a bow or a double knot.Curl the ends of your ribbons. If you used a rubber band to keep your bunching secure, leave it on to prevent the tie from coming undone.Cut a gift tag with a hole punch. If you need to differentiate the gift from other gifts, weave the tag onto the ribbon.
Step 6: There is a square of packing paper.
To make sure the wrapping job is even, find a flat space to wrap your mug in.Cut out a length of packing paper that is larger than your mug. Most department or shipping stores have packing paper. You can use old newspapers in a pinch. The thicker the mug's protection, the longer it is.
Step 7: The mug should be placed in the corner of the packing paper.
Roll the mug over in packing paper.Continue rolling until you reach the end of the packing paper.Put your mug in the center of the paper roll and try again.
Step 8: The sides of the packing paper should be Tucked in.
The bottom of the packing paper should be folded around the cup.The packing paper should be put in the mug's mouth. If the end is too long to fold, trim it with scissors. If the mug is especially valuable or fragile, double tuck it and wrap it in packing paper.Pack the sides with packing tape.
Step 9: Carefully pack your mugs in a box.
Place wrapped cups and mugs in a box to prevent them from breaking as you move or store them.If you want to give your mugs external protection, opt for a plastic box.Bubble wrap and newspaper balls can be added to the bottom of the box.You know to treat the box with care if it's labeled as fragile.
