SkyDrive was a cloud file-management service by Microsoft.OneDrive allows online file sharing and storage and is closely integrated into the Windows platform, allowing access to yourMS Office files, which aren't readily available in other cloud-file management services.It is very versatile and can be used on various mobile device platforms.
Step 1: You can download it for Windows.
You can download the program for Windows from the OneDrive download page.It is also available for Windows 7 and 8.Windows 8.1 is built-in if you have it.
Step 2: The program needs to be installed.
To install the program, double-click on the setup file.The setup file has a blue cloud icon.
Step 3: Sign in.
You will have to have an account in order to start.It will work if you have a Microsoft account.When prompted, use your Microsoft account to sign in.
Step 4: Continue with the installation.
You will be able to see the OneDrive icon in the system tray once it's done.You will be able to download your files to your computer.
Step 5: You can view the folder.
The default location was defined during installation.To view your files, you can use your Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder.The notification area on the lower-right side of the taskbar has the OneDrive icon.You can bring up a short menu by locating the icon and clicking on it.You will be able to launch your OneDrive folder if you choose to open your folder.You can see all the files in your account from here.
Step 6: You can add files.
If you want to add files to your account for storage, backup, and sync, just use the normal Windows operations.You can copy or move files by dragging them into the folder.The files you put into this folder will be uploaded to your account.
Step 7: There are files that should be deleted.
The normal Windows operations can be used to remove files from your OneDrive folder.Click on a file and then press "Delete" on your keyboard.You can drag the file to the recycle bin.The files you remove from this folder will be removed from your account as well.
Step 8: You can go to the website.
Step 9: You have to sign in.
Click on the button to sign in.If you have a Microsoft account, you can sign in.
Step 10: Define the location of the file
The folder level is where you want to put your files.To get inside the folders, click on them.By right-clicking on the screen, you can create a new folder.
Step 11: There are files to be uploaded.
Drag the files you want to upload from your computer to the cloud in your browser.The files you have added will be uploaded immediately.You can access the files from your account once it's done.
Step 12: You can use a wired internet connection.
If you connect your computer directly to a modem, it will give you a boost in connection speed.You can use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to the back of your modem.
Step 13: Other applications that access the internet should be reduced or closed.
It is best to only have that activity running when uploading or downloading to or from your account.Don't allow other types of uploading or downloads from your other programs.
Step 14: During off hours, upload or download.
If you are uploading a large amount of data, you may want to do it at night when most people are asleep.
Step 15: Keep an eye on your progress.
Stay in front of your computer to keep an eye on its progress.You will need to restart the transfer when your connection drops.There is need for user intervention during these times.
