Are you in a time when having class online is absolutely necessary? It is possible that you want to have all homework and other assignments stored digitally for convenience. If any of these apply to you, you can use the wonderful tool that is Google Classroom.Sometimes its complex layout can be hard to understand.Don't worry, though! It's not easy, but it is possible.
Step 1: You need to create a Google account.
If you don't have a Google Account, you will not be able to use the classroom. You can visit accounts.google.com to create an account. It will be beneficial if you have a Google account because it will give you access to all of the products on the internet.Make sure that all of your students have access to the internet. They can't participate in classes you have set up.
Step 2: Click the plus sign in the top right corner of the screen to go to classroom.
You can either join class or create class from the popup window.Right now, you should click 'create class'.You will need to sign up for G Suite for Education if you are using a classroom with students. You can manage the settings of your students' accounts.
Step 3: The class information can be filled out in the popup window.
The name, section, subject, and room number of your class will be provided when you click 'create class.'The only thing required is the name.Your class name should be descriptive. What level of difficulty are you talking about? It's called honors, advanced, etc.If you don't want to put them in the separate field, you can.If applicable add the section number. If you don't have a section for your classroom, you can skip this one.Pick the subject your class covers. The best-fitting subject should be typed into the field. There will be a list with similar subjects.Don't put 'geometry' for a physics class if you click on the one you think embodies your class matter.Click "create" when you're done.
Step 4: Give your students the class code.
Getting your students into your class is the first thing you have to do.This can be done by giving them the class code or sending a email. You can get the class code by going to the 'People' tab.The class code should be shown under students.Students can join your class with this code. The students would be invited.Click the plus sign on the same line as the students heading and then type in all of your students email addresses. All of these students have to be in your school email domain or your contacts.Send an email to all of your students to remind them to join your class if this isn't the case.
Step 5: Reminders and announcements can be posted in the class stream.
The first screen you see when you click on the classroom is the class stream.Reminders about work can be posted, as can announcements about upcoming project or test dates.Monitoring the comments for any questions your students may have about the post in question is something you can do.
Step 6: Under the 'Classwork' tab, assign work to your students.
Click the 'create' button at the top of the page to give your students their first assignment.Pick what kind of assignment it is.An editing screen will pop up after you choose what type of assignment it is.You can add topics, point values, due dates, and even a rubric to the title and instructions here.To make the assignment live, click 'Assign' once you are done with it.You can check the number of people who have turned it in from the 'Classwork' tab.
Step 7: Students grades can be checked by looking at the 'Grades' tab.
The 'Grades' tab shows the grades from the assignments in the classroom. You may want to use a virtual gradebook website since your students can't see their grades directly.
Step 8: Either by invitation or manually entering the class code, join your class.
This is the only way you will get assignments.
Step 9: Reminders and announcements can be found in the course stream.
You need important information for upcoming assignments.Whenever a new announcement is posted, you will get an email notification so you can check your email instead.
Step 10: On time, complete any assignments.
Points will be deducted if you turn in something late or incomplete. If you have any new assignments, you should check your classroom daily. You will also get an email for new assignments, so be sure to check that as well.
Step 11: If you have any questions or concerns, please post a comment.
Class comments can be posted on announcements and assignments, so ask any questions you may have.Private comments can also be posted on assignments.Only you and your teachers can see these comments. If you know the answer to a question, give it to your friend.Your teacher will appreciate your initiative, as will your classmates.
