Most cellular plans now come with mobile data.This allows you to do things that would normally require an internet connection.If you go over your monthly limit, you can turn on and off your mobile data.
Step 1: The settings app is to be opened.
You can find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.The icon is reminiscent of a gear.
Step 2: You can use the "Data usage" option.
This should be at the top of the menu.There is a "Mobile Networks" option in older versions of Android.
Step 3: The "Mobile data" is on the screen.
This will turn your mobile data on.You can check the "Data enabled" box on older versions.Your plan needs to support mobile data in order for it to work.You will need a cellular signal in order to use your mobile data connection.
Step 4: Make sure you have a data connection.
You may be able to see 3G or 4G next to the Notification bar.The best way to test is to open your web browser and visit a website, since not all devices display this when you have a data connection.
Step 5: Make sure Airplane Mode is disabled.
Airplane Mode will stop your mobile data connection.You can change Airplane Mode from the settings menu or by pressing and holding the power button.
Step 6: If you're roaming, check to make sure.
If you are roaming outside of your network, most devices will turn off data.Roaming data is more expensive than in-network data.You can enable it if you need a data connection.Select "Data usage" when you open the settings app.The Menu button is in the upper-right corner.The "Data roaming" box should be checked.
Step 7: Make sure you don't exceed your carrier limit for data.
You may have a hard limit on the amount of data you can use per billing cycle.You may be cut off completely from your mobile data connection if you exceed this limit.You can see your data usage in the menu, but it won't show your carrier limit.
Step 8: If you can't get a data connection, restart your device.
If you still can't get a data connection after checking everything, a quick reboot is usually the solution.If you want the device to work again, make sure you power it off completely.
Step 9: To reset your settings, contact your carrier's customer service department.
When you get a data signal, your device connects to Access Point Names.You won't be able to connect to your network if these APNs have changed.To get the proper settings, you'll need to contact your carrier's customer service department.You can change your mobile network settings by opening the settings app, selecting "Mobile networks", and then tapping "Access Point Names"."Mobile networks" can be found in the settings menu on older phones.
