The nipple piercing can get infections which can cause redness, pain, and swelling.Your symptoms are not life threatening and can be treated.Home treatments can be used to address your symptoms if you see your doctor.If your infection doesn't improve within a week or you get worse, you need to see your doctor.Take care of your piercing so it doesn't get re-infection.
Step 1: The piercing needs to be washed with soap and water.
Keeping your hands clean will prevent you from getting dirt into your piercing.Before touching your nipple piercing, wash your hands with soap and warm water.Dry your hands with a towel or paper towel.
Step 2: The discharge can drain if you leave in your piercing.
Your skin will start to close when you remove your piercing.This can cause an injury to your skin.This makes your infections more difficult to treat.If your doctor tells you to take your piercing out, leave it in your nipple.Your doctor may recommend changing the piercing if you have a bad reaction to it.If you keep your piercing open, it will drain.Go back to your piercer to get the nipple ring changed if your doctor recommends it.
Step 3: Your nipple piercing needs to be cleaned.
Use soap and warm water to wash your hands.Then, wash your nipple with soap and warm water.Next, rinse the soap with warm water.Put a clean, dry towel on the area.You can either buy a rinse over-the-counter or make it yourself by adding salt to a cup of water.After a shower is the best time to care for your piercing.
Step 4: Inflammation and drainage can be alleviated with a warm compress.

Step 8: Don't use over-the-counter antibiotics.
Antibiotic creams don't work well for deep infections, which is why they're great for minor cuts.These creams form a thin layer on top of your skin.The infection is trapped within your wound because it can't drain.Before you put any medication on your nipple, talk to your doctor.
Step 9: It's too harsh to rub alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.
If you have a nipple piercing, rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide on your wounds can delay the healing process.These products can hurt your skin and cause new symptoms.To minimize irritation, stick to your bath.
Step 10: If symptoms don't improve after a week of home treatment, you should visit your doctor.

Step 13: Don't touch your piercing with your hands.
