The easiest way to modify a baggy t-shirt is by tying the hem into a knot.There are several ways to tie and position the knot.If you are stuck with a baggy button-up shirt, you can tie it in different ways to get different garments, from halter tops to dresses to skirts!The styling possibilities are endless if you know what to do.
Step 1: There is a baggy t-shirt.
The longer the shirt is, the more loose the fabric will be.This will make tying the knot easier.
Step 2: A bun knot is a classic look.
Make an O with your thumb and index finger.The fit of your shirt should be snug around your waist when you slide the hem through the O.Wrap the tail around your index and middle fingers to form a loop if you tighten your thumb against the fabric.Pull the tail through the loop and tighten the knot.If you want to hide it, Tuck the tail end under the knot.
Step 3: If you want something smaller, do a bunny ear knot.
2 sections of your shirt should be along the hem.Just like tying a pair of shoes, cross the left ear over the right one and pull it through the gap.To tighten the knot, pull on the ears.
Step 4: A rubber band or hair tie can be used.
You can make an O-shape with your thumb and index finger.Pull some fabric through the O until the fit is snug, if you bring your hand under your shirt.Wrap a rubber band or hair tie around the fabric with your fingers, and then under your fist.When you are done, let the fabric go.The inside of your shirt is where the tied fabric should be.This will allow the fabric to move from the front to the back.You'll need to go further up from the hem if you make the shirt tighter.You don't want to see the tail.
Step 5: The position of the knot is what you should play around with.
Try to have the knot in the back instead of the front.It's possible to put it off to the side.You can show more of your midriff by raising the hem and tying a tighter knot.
Step 6: If you wear a short-sleeved shirt, tie the bottom into a knot.
Don't button it up until you put on a short-sleeved shirt.Make it as snug as possible by tying the 2 bottom corners of your shirt into a double knot.The shirt should be put up the rest of the way.The top 1 to 2 buttons can be undone to show off some skin.
Step 7: To turn a long-sleeved shirt into a tube top, tie it around your torso.
Put a button-up shirt against your back.Put it down on your front.Tie the sleeves under your bust with a bow.You can tuck the collar in or leave it out.Tuck the shirt into a skirt or pants to complete the look.
Step 8: You can turn a shirt into a halter by tying the sleeves behind your neck.
Wrap a long-sleeved button-up shirt around your body.The shirt needs to be Buttoned up until it is snug.Pull the sleeves up in front of your shoulders and neck.They need to be tied into a knot.You can tuck the collar into the shirt or leave it out of sight.Place the knot over your left or right shoulder by taking it up a notch.The sleeves should be tied into a half-bow.A half bow is where you wrap the left sleeve around the right and pull it through the loop.
Step 9: Use a longer shirt to turn it into a dress.
Wrap a large button-up shirt around your chest with long sleeves.If you want the collar to be in the front, you have to button the shirt until it is snug.Pull the sleeves in front of you, right under the bust, and tie them into a double knot.The collar should not be sticking out.It will be a nice design.You'll end up with a mini dress if you use a regular button-up shirt.
Step 10: To make a skirt, tie a long-sleeved shirt around your waist.
Wrap a button-up shirt around your waist.Wrap the sleeves around your waist and tie them in a knot.When you're done, put the collar inside the shirt.
Step 11: The shirt should be unbuttoned to make a statement.
Place a long-sleeved button-up shirt against your hips.Wrap the sleeves around your waist and tie them at the front.It's important that the shirt you wear goes well with your outfit.The buttons should be left undone.This will make the shirt look better.If it gets cold, you can put the shirt on.
