There is a section of hair growing in a different direction than the rest of the hair.If you have the right tricks and techniques, you should be able to tame it into submission.
Step 1: Wet it.
It is easier to work with wet hair. The hair will be difficult to style once the roots are dry.You can either style your hair out of the shower or use a spray bottle to wet it.
Step 2: You can dry your hair with a hair dryer.
Dry your hair in the direction of the cowlick.Blow your hair in the opposite direction after a few seconds. If you are drying your hair in multiple directions, it will confuse the hair roots in the area to help break down the directions held by the cowlick.Pull hair with a round brush for assistance in grabbing and holding it.If you have curly hair, use a low air setting.
Step 3: It's time to style your hair.
If you want to style your hair in a certain way, use a round brush to grab sections of hair.Start at the root and use a hairdryer on medium heat. The hair on top of the brush should be kept close to the hair dryer to keep it in line.Don't hurry. The brush should be moved slowly through your hair.Once you get the look you want, repeat the process as many times as necessary. The brush should be drawn over the top of the cowlick. It is easier to style your hair in this direction if you part it.Longer hair could be given more body by styling opposite of the cowlick.
Step 4: Put the cowlick on until the hair has cooled.
You will want to keep the style and direction of your hair. The hair should not be moved around until it has cooled. If you use a hair clip, make sure it doesn't leave a mark on your hair and let it cool.Men and women with shorter hair can use a brush or hand to hold their hair in place. You can change the heat setting on your hairdryer. The area should be kept cool until it is room temperature again. It should take 1-2 minutes. If you have an extremely troublesome cowlick, you should keep your hair clip in place while you sleep.
Step 5: You can try a flat iron.
A flat iron can provide a lot of heat.It will take a minute or two to heat the iron up.You can use a comb to separate out the hair.Get the iron close to the root of the hair and press it between the heated parts. If you want this section of hair to lie, gently pull the iron down the length of the hair. You don't want to burn your skin if you touch the iron on your hair.Smaller sections of hair can be addressed with a thinner flat iron.
Step 6: To style your hair, apply hair gel.
The best time to apply hair gel is when the hair is wet.Rub your hands together after dropping a small amount of gel.Run your fingers through your hair.If you want full coverage, rub the gel into the roots of your hair.Once the gel is put into the roots, comb it in the direction you would like it styled. Some gels are heat-activated.After applying the hair gel, use a hair dryer to style your hair.
Step 7: You can experiment with pomade.
If you want the hair to run, apply pomade to dry hair. You can pick up some wax by running your fingers through the pomade. To spread the pomade, Rub these fingers against your thumb. If you want to style the hair in a certain way, you need to grab the area of hair and pull it from root to end with two fingers and thumb.A pomade with a matt finish is a good choice. If you use more than a thin layer of pomade, your hair may appear wet.
Step 8: You can massage your roots with a brush.
The root brushes are designed to get to the root and adjust the direction of hair growth. The brush should be run in the opposite direction of the hair growth when your hair is wet.The bristles are flexible so they don't tangle in the hair. There are many root brushes that come with a pointed end.
Step 9: The hair is effected by a cow.
This is a good plan for people with short hair.If the hair is cut evenly, it will look longer in the cowlick, because it is in a different direction. As your cut grows out, cut this area shorter and it will blend better with the rest.If you want to cut the hair in the area of the cowlick that is short, you can do it against the neck or head.
Step 10: You should grow your hair longer.
Increasing your length will increase the weight of your hair, if you don't want short hair.Long hair is heavy. The direction of the cowlick can be affected by the hair's gravity. The hair won't last long enough to have an effect on a cowlick.
Step 11: You can add layers to your style.
You should consult with your hairdresser to see if they can add layers to your hair to camouflage the cowlick.A good cut to compliment or cover your cowlick can be suggested by a competent stylist. While using shorter layers underneath, longer layers can be used to weigh the area down.Shorter hair can be styled with a shaggy cut which changes the direction of the hair surrounding the cowlick to help blend it in to your hairstyle and camouflage it.
Step 12: Curl your hair.
To match your hair color, adjust the rest of it.Sending your hair in different directions can make the cowlick seem intentional. To heat a curling iron, use a medium-high heat. There is a small section of hair on the side of your head. The piece of hair is near the middle of the hair.Take the iron to the end of the strands and spin it around to wrap the hair around it.Release the hair from the iron by holding it for three seconds.Continue this process all the way around your head until you have curled your hair.Curl the cowlick in the direction of it and then take the hair from that area.
Step 13: Don't be afraid of the cowlick!
The messy look is still in style.Allow the cowlick to do its thing and even match the rest of your hair to that look.Rub your hands together with a quarter size amount of mousse. It is recommended to apply this to damp hair.Pull it through your hair after massaging it deep to the roots. If you have long hair, you can try placing your palm at the bottom of a section of hair and lifting that hand to get the length of the hair.
