You can learn how to identify, prevent, and block email junk mail.Your email provider will be able to determine which messages constitute spam if you block them in your inbox. The desktop and mobile versions of Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and Apple Mail can be blocked.
Step 1: You should only use your personal and business emails.
Don't use your personal or business email to sign up for contests, online services, apps, or mailing lists. The mailing lists are monitored by many people who look for email addresses to be sent to.You can create a new account for free.A separate email account that you use to sign up for frivolous services is a good idea.
Step 2: Check who is sending the email.
Most of the time, it's an unrecognized sender with odd email addresses. That doesn't mean all unrecognized email is bad.Multiple numbers, dashes, and odd letter combinations are some of the things that may come from addresses you don't recognize. If you trust the sender, open emails and links. You should either know the sender, be expecting an email from them, or have a reasonable reason for why the other person would send you a random email.
Step 3: You should not click on links in emails.
The goal of most email is to get you to click on a link, so only click links from people you know and trust. If you're unsure of a link in an email from a friend, consider calling them and asking about the link.It is possible that their contacts list was compromised. If you receive a suspicious email from a company, bank, or organization that you have an account with, you can usually find out if there is a problem by opening a new browser window and logging in to your account from their website.
Step 4: Look at the email's spelling.
Unusually-worded sentences and misspellings can be found in the mail. This can include weird style such as bolding, italics and randomly colored text.
Step 5: The message should be read.
Anything that claims you won a contest you never entered, offers you access to unclaimed money or promises free electronics, jewelry, or anything 100% free is not legitimate.Any message asking for your password is not real. There are password reset programs on all legitimate websites. It is always better to ignore requests from strangers. You can read the beginning of an email message without opening it with a preview window. This will prevent you from opening the email and opening a malicious attachment.
Step 6: Don't post your email on the internet.
Thousands of emails can be gathered at a time from websites where the email addresses are made public. You don't want to enter your email address to sign up for coupons.Make your email address public on Facebook or other social media services if you type it out in a comment or post online.Never give your email to someone you don't know. You can create an email address for free if you need one for frivolous services.
