It is not the best train system in the world, but it is unique and some of the stations such as Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross Station are.
Step 1: If you have money you can buy a ticket.
Myki is accepted by the railway network in Melbourne.
Step 2: You should get to the station.
Most railway stations in Melbourne have at least one bus route to the station.If you're taking the bus, you can buy your train ticket and bus ticket at the same time.All of the stations in the city have a free commuter car park.Most stations car park's will be full after 9 am on a weekday.
Step 3: If you don't have a ticket, purchase one at the station.
If you are at a premium station, you can buy tickets from the window or at the station's small machine which only accepts coins.The new ticket machine can be used to add funds to myki.
Step 4: You must verify your ticket after you have it.
There will be a validator at all stations.You have to have a valid ticket on public transport and inside ticket areas.The green myki reader can be used for validation.You can get a green light if you hold your card over the hand symbol.Please try to touch off again if you hear multiple beeps and see a red light.If it doesn't work, call Myki.
Step 5: Wait at the platform in a calm, orderly manner after validation of your ticket.
Some stations have vending machines that sell hot drinks and newspapers during peak hours.There will be a newspaper stand at all City stations and several large metropolitan stations.
Step 6: The PRIDE system is found at most stations.
There will be a button on the box.The next train information can be found by pressing the green button.The red button will connect you to an operator if you press it in an emergency.
Step 7: The trains arrival will be announced by the stations PA system.
Step 8: The train will arrive.
Stand behind the yellow line.The door should be open when the train stops.Older trains have to be opened manually.When pushed, the newer trains will open the doors automatically.
Step 9: You can board the train in a calm manner.
Look at the gap.The platform is marked with a yellow or white triangle if you have a pram or wheelchair.The driver will place a ramp for you when the train arrives.The driver will assist you in getting off the train if you write your destination on a piece of paper.
Step 10: Go to the nearest door to disembark when the train announces the station.
Pull the doors open if you hear a tone.Push the button when you hear the tone on the train.As you get off the train, watch your step as it may be a gap between the platform and train.If you are in a wheelchair, the driver of the cab will pull out the ramp at the station to help you get off the train.
Step 11: If you have a Myki reader, you can leave the train station.
Hold your Myki card over the green myki reader until you hear a noise.You can see the fare deducted and the closing balance on the screen.Please try to touch off again if you hear multiple beeps and see a red light.If it doesn't work, call Myki.
