It's a bit inconvenient when you are painting.It is a quick and easy process to remove them.The entire area should be painted before the wall is reconnected.
Step 1: Don't let the valves on the sides open.
There are two valves on the side of the radiator.The plastic cap can be removed from the lock-shield valve.The control valve should be turned to the right with your hand.You will need to restore the lock-shield valve to its previous setting after writing down how many rotations it took to close it.
Step 2: To protect the flooring, place a towel and small bowl under the radiator.
Water damage can be prevented by placing a towel over the floor.To catch the water, position a small bowl below the control valve.The mats or rugs need to be removed.
Step 3: Use a key to open the bleed valve.
There is a bleed valve at the top of the radiator.The raised square is in the center of the valve.To open the bleed valve, turn the radiator bleed key to the left.Once the valve is open, place the wrench on the outside of it.A radiator key is a tool used to open valves.They can be bought from a hardware store.
Step 4: The manual control valve has a cap nut.
The cap nut is connected to the valve.Water starts flowing out the hole after you remove the valve.As soon as the nut is loose, the water will start flowing.
Step 5: Once the bowl is filled with water, tighten the nut.
Turn the cap nut to the left to tighten it.The nut should be turned until the water stops.The bowl should be flushed down the drain.
Step 6: The nut should be adjusted until the water flow has stopped.
Put the cap nut back on and fill another bowl with water.Continue to fill bowls with water until there is no more water coming out of the valve.After draining the water, tighten the cap nut.
Step 7: The lock-shield cap nut needs to be loosened.
Place the lock-shield valve in the open position.When the valve is open, loosen the lock-shield cap nut.The nut can be undone by turning the spanner anti-clockwise.
Step 8: Lift the wall and let the water out.
The radiator needs to be removed from the wall.Take the water from the lock-shield valve and put it in a bucket.Put the water on the ground once it's out of the radiator.The water should be poured down the drain.
Step 9: You can cover the pipes with painters tape.
Put the strips of painters tape over the supports.The front and back of the pipes should be protected with painters tape.Purchase painters tape from a hardware store.
Step 10: You can choose a paint that is resistant to heat.
It is important that the paint doesn't crack from the constant changes in temperature.There is a paint that is suitable for warm conditions.An oil paint or interior/exterior paint mix is a good choice.It is only necessary for the insides of fireplaces to have heat- resistant paint.
Step 11: A primer should be applied to the area.
Even though the area is hidden, it is still worth doing a thorough job of painting.You don't know when you might want to take the radiator out.Use a medium-sized paintbrush to apply a primer coat.If the radiator is removed, you should only paint behind it as this will give you an even paint job.You should paint the entire surface during your painting session.
Step 12: The entire area should be painted with at least 2 coats of paint.
Use long, back and forth brush strokes to apply your chosen paint.To get a smooth and quality finish, apply at least 2 coats.Before applying the next coat, leave each coat to dry for 24 hours.
Step 13: Allow the paint to cure for 48 hours.
Before touching the paint, leave it to dry for 2 days.The paint on the car may be damaged if you try to connect it before the paint has hardened.The back of your paint bucket has instructions on how long to leave the paint to dry.
Step 14: The support brackets need to be lifted.
Lift the radiator up and put it on the wall supports.The valves line up with the pipes to make sure the radiator is facing the right way.If it's large or heavy, you should ask someone to help you.
Step 15: Attach the valves to the radiator with the help of the cap nuts.
The lock-shield and manual control valves need to be changed.The nuts should be tightened by turning them clockwise.This will hold the valves in place.Make sure the nuts are fastened tightly.
Step 16: The lock-shield valve should be closed.
The bleed valve can be closed with a radiator bleed key.Turn the key to the right to use the same process as for opening the valve.The lock-shield valve should be turned back to its original position.Use the same number of turns as it took to open the valve, but turn it anti-clockwise this time.
Step 17: The control valve should be turned left to open it.
The manual control valve is anti-clockwise.The valve will be open if this is done.
Step 18: The bleed valve is open.
The bleed valve can be opened with the help of the radiator key.The valve needs to be open to let the water in.It allows trapped air to be released through the opening.The air pockets will most likely be moving through the pipes if the radiator makes some strange noises.
Step 19: The bleed valve needs to be tightened when you stop hearing the water refilling.
This will keep the water out of the radiator.The radiators are ready to be used.The bleed valve needs to be closed so that no water can get into it.
