The widest point of a shirt is usually below the armpit. If you want better-fitting clothes, you can easily find your sleeve width. It's possible to measure a shirt as a reference if it already fits you.You can find your sleeve width by measuring around your bicep.
Step 1: The sleeves should be flat if you lay your shirt on a firm surface.
If you want to avoid folds, place the shirt face-up on a table or another hard surface. If you want the seam on the bottom of the sleeve to be visible, pull it out from the shirt's torso. It's possible to measure a short- or long-sleeved shirt. If the shirt has a lot of wrinkling, try washing it.Well-fitting sleeves will allow you to extend your arm through its full range of motion without feeling tight or restrictive.
Step 2: Place the tape measure on the sleeve's seam from the armpit.
The side of the shirt has a seam along the bottom of it.The corner was made by the armpit.Place the end of a fabric tape measure on the bottom of the sleeve.A flexible material is used to make fabric tape measures. They can be purchased from craft supply stores.
Step 3: Pull the tape measure so it is in line with the sleeve's top edge.
It's a good idea to stretch the tape measure straight up.The tape measure should be brought toward the top of the sleeve to form a 90-degree angle. The vertical seam that connects the sleeve to the front of your shirt will be parallel with the tape measure. The tape measure should be held against the bottom of the sleeve to prevent it from moving.
Step 4: Take your measurement up to the nearest quarter inch.
The tape measure crosses the crease on top of the sleeve to find the width. To make sure the measurement isn't too small, round up to the next quarter inch. You don't want to forget the measurement, so write it down.If your measurement was 7 8 inches, you would round it up to 18 cm.
Step 5: The widest part of your bicep can be found down from your shoulder.
While you take your measurements, you can wear a thin, loose-fitting shirt.Take a measurement from the tip of your shoulder, keeping your arm relaxed by your side.If you can't find the widest spot around your bicep, look in a mirror.
Step 6: Wrap a fabric measure tape around your body.
There is a fabric tape measure between your arm and the side of your body.Wrap the rest of the tape measure around your bicep to keep it horizontal. If you want to get an accurate measurement, make sure the tape measure lays flat against your skin.If you can't measure your bicep on your own, ask a friend to do it for you.
Step 7: Take your measurement while you relax.
If you are flexing your bicep, it will make your sleeve width seem larger.Keep your arm relaxed and look at where the tape measure overlaps.Take your measurement up to the nearest half-inch.If you had a measurement of 12 8 inches, you would round it up to 32 cm.
Step 8: To allow a full range of motion, add 1 2–2 in.
Take the measurement you found around your bicep and add an additional length to it.It makes it easy to fit your arms through your sleeves. The final width should be 14 2–15 inches (37–38 cm) if your measured sleeve width was 13 inches (33 cm).
Step 9: To find your cuff size, add 2 in to your wrist.
Keep the tape measure horizontal by holding it above the bulge of your wrist bone.To see where the measure intersects the end, Wrap the tape around your wrist. If you want to fit your hand through it, add Round your measurement up to the nearest quarter inch.Round the measurement up to 7 8 inches (19 cm).Your final cuff size is 9 2 inches (24 cm) if you add 2 inches. If you are measuring for a long-sleeve dress shirt, you only need your cuff size. The amount of the sleeve will be determined by this.
