Step 1: As the moving arrows reach the top of the screen, you need to match your steps to them.

Step 3: You should choose your song wisely.
The number of feet is displayed on a scale of 1 to 10 at the bottom of the screen.The song will be more difficult if the number of feet is higher.Stepcharts are rated numerically from 1 to 20 in newer versions.1 to 10 is the rest of the article.
Step 4: Different songs can have different rhythms.
The rating is in beats per minute.The song will be quicker if the number is higher.Determine what speed you are comfortable with.Some songs change their pace.The factors are displayed on the screen when you select a song.The difficulty is not equal to the BPM.The speed at which the arrows move up the screen is changed by slower songs.
Step 5: You can vary your selection.
If you pick the same song every time, you will end up in bad form and annoy other players.If you are new to the game, only do this.You should play a lot of songs to learn new patterns once you start playing Light/Basic and Standard/Difficult.
Step 6: Feel the beat.
You can bounce with the character on the screen, or as the lights illuminate the machine.You can begin to dance along with the beat once you've gotten that down and moved to Light.
Step 7: Don't go back to the middle!
This is very important.If you want to play any song harder than 3 feet, your stance should be on the left and right arrows.The game does not penalize you for stepping on an arrow if there isn't one on the screen, only forstepping out of time or not at all; with this posture you will be much more prepared for the arrow patterns.
Step 8: Use both feet!
A lot of beginners use their dominant foot for 3 panels.A left-footed beginner would only use their right foot to press the right arrow.This form is not good.You have to learn to use both feet on more than one arrow.It can save energy and give you an advantage when you play harder levels.
Step 9: As you step, learn to shift your weight.
Suppose you are given a set of steps.The best way to do this is to keep your weight on your left foot and use the right button three times.The mistake of shifting one's weight onto the right foot after the first step is a common mistake for beginners.Suppose one is given the steps "Left Left Right."You can do this by walking on the arrows and shifting your weight as you hit it.If you kept your weight on the right arrow the whole time, you would have to hop to hit the last right button if you wanted to tap the left button.Before you can do harder songs, you need to learn how to walk from arrow to arrow, and tap an arrow if that step is repeated.There is a smallUrl at the bottom of the page.
Step 10: Try taping yourself when you play for the first time.
It's a good way to see how much you've improved.After playing the game for a while, tape yourself up again.Don't criticize yourself when you watch the beginning tape.You will see how far you have come if you watch the new tape.
Step 11: Don't learn to play just one song perfectly.
You get 3 tries at an arcade if you play a home game.Playing the same song 3 times in a row will show people you don't care about them.It's time to step outside of your comfort zone.Ignore anyone who teases you.They were beginners at one point, or never played it.Don't underestimate DDR.It's not as easy as it looks.
Step 12: Also called speed mod, speed multipliers are used.
The options screen will be displayed if you hold down the start button when you select your song.If you like your songs quickly, do 2x.If you like your songs fast, do 1.5x.Speed mod's add space between arrows so they are easier to read and react to.The base scroll speed depends on the speed mod.For example, a song at 100BPM with a 2x speed mod has arrows that scroll at the same speed, which we call "200 scroll BPM", or just " 200 BPM".Some players, especially those who started early in the series, frown on speed mod, just as some players don't like using the bar for support.It is important to remember that the bar and speed mod are there for you.Do what works best for you, there is no one way to play.There is a smallUrl at the bottom of this page.
Step 13: There is a difference between the steps.
The basic beat of the song is twice as fast as quarter notes.A common step pattern is three notes at double speed.You need to be off the middle of the pad to get these steps.Slowly you'll master the song if you listen to and use the rhythm of it.There is a straight run of 8th notes.The colored eighth notes will be different from the quarter notes.The quarter notes are red while the eighth note is blue on the "Note" color setting.The color cycles with an offset phase on the "Vivid" setting.There is a smallUrl at the bottom of this page.
Step 14: Work on mastering the 16th note.

Step 15: Crossovers are steps where you have to cross one leg over the other to walk.
If you want to hit the left and right arrows, you should cross your left foot over.The first of the more sophisticated stances are the Crossovers.
Step 16: Galloping is where you are.
The horse galloped.There are 2 notes at a time.Depending on the timing, they are either "1-e, 2-e" or "1 a-2 a-3".When you jump in the air, you land one foot and the other on the opposite arrow.Songs like TSUGARU APPLE MIX and COWGIRL are great for this.Japan on Heavy is a great place to learn Galloping because it often has long rows of gallops using only 2 arrows and in some parts more advanced galloping with the arrows going all over the place.It doesn't have forced spinning gallops, so it should be good.
Step 17: It's difficult to see gallops in the middle of a stream of arrows.
Changing the noteskin to Note will make them easier to read.There is an option to use different colored note-skins in the home version.Picking out gallops is trivial because of the different colors.
Step 18: Some songs have specific tricks.
Some songs use multiples.A triplet is a note that falls one third, one sixth, and one twelfth.Between beats.Burning heat and the end of Afronova are examples.If you don't know what triplets are, you should be able to see which notes they are.Don't forget to practice them.The song Healing Vision uses a Stop.The arrows stop on the screen for a short time.There are some songs that change speed in the middle.You can see arrows closer together or farther apart, it's the same pace, the arrows just change speed on the screen.A soflan is an instance of the doubling speed or halving in the middle of a song.
Step 19: Progress to even harder songs.
You should start doing heavy songs once you are comfortable with a lot of Standard difficulty songs.As you master the new moves, you'll be able to move up to 8 footers, 9, and then 10.
Step 20: You can use the bar behind you to balance on hard songs.
It could be useful even though it is debated and frowned upon by some players.The bar is not required for Beginner, Light, and Standard.
Step 21: If you can't finish a hard song, try another one.
You will eventually be able to finish a new song if you keep doing that.
Step 22: Try to learn some of the most complicated step patterns that you can do while walking.
The song Rhythm and Police (4th mix) is an excellent one to learn slowly and work up - it contains most of the complicated step patterns that require no more than crossovers.It's a good song for teaching complicated stances, such as having to turn 90 degrees to the left to hit Left Up Right Left Down Right.
Step 23: The ball of your foot can be used.
The technique is called playing flat footed.The ball of your right foot should be on the right side.Assume you have the step pattern Up-Left- Right.Hit up with the ball of your right foot, left with whatever part of the left foot is easiest, and right with your foot's heel.You use less energy when you move your feet a shorter distance.
Step 24: Don't think too hard while playing.
It may sound counter-intuitive, but it may be easier to play when you aren't thinking about it.If you don't think a lot, your body will go for the notes.It could work for you.
Step 25: Practice mode is used.
If you have a home console, slowing down a song by a few percent can help you learn tricky songs.
Step 26: It's important to have a good amount of stamina.
If you find yourself stuck on a certain foot level, then try the following.The arcade machine will categorize the songs according to the number of feet.Start abusing that list if you find the level you're on.You should be able to start playing on a higher difficulty once you pass every song on B or higher for that level.You should be able to pass all the songs with an A before you move to the next level if you start playing 8 feet or higher.
Step 27: It's equally important to have a skill level and a stamina level.
It's one thing to have the skill to play songs that are above your level and pass, but if your legs give out before the song is over, focus on stamina.Unless you have a good balance between the higher levels and the advanced techniques, it won't matter how many you know.
