It is easy to make pearl earrings.Whether you're making them for yourself, giving them as a gift, or starting your own jewelry business, you can do it yourself.
Step 1: You can choose pearls for your earrings.
The pearls should have a rough surface. They won't be perfect round.Make sure the pearls you use are the right size and shape. They need a hole to run the pin through.
Step 2: Clean pearls are used.
There are ways to clean pearls without damaging them. You need a soft cloth and a jewelry cleaner.Ammonia, harsh chemicals, and other abrasives are not recommended.Only jewelry cleaners labeled as safe for pearls can be used.
Step 3: You have to make the earrings step-by-step.
This is helpful but not absolutely necessary. It will be easier for you to do each step if youAssembling both earrings together. This makes each step consistent with the matching earring.
Step 4: Prepare your equipment.
You should wear safety goggles to protect your eyes. You need two headpins, two French hook earring wires, round nose pliers, and wire cutter.Headpins and earring wires can be found at craft stores.Headpins are straight pins that have a ball or a flat circular surface at one end to stop a pearl or bead from sliding off.Do you want a flat or balled end or a silver or brass/gold-colored pin?French hook earring wires are long, curved hooks that go through the ear and hang on their own; they don't require an earring back.
Step 5: The pearl should be put on the headpin.
It should be held in place by the ball head of the pin.The pearl should go to the side of the headpin.
Step 6: Take the headpin and bend it.
The pearl is about a half centimeter above the ground. To bend the pin above the pearl, use your hands.
Step 7: Hold with nose pliers.
The bent wire can be manipulated with round nose pliers.
Step 8: You should make a loop.
Start by bending the headpin around the pliers. If you need to adjust your pliers, do so.
Step 9: If you don't have a complete loop, bend the wire.
The loop should be small. It should be wrapped around the nose pliers so that they are not visible.
Step 10: The excess wire needs to be cut off.
The extra wire that does not form part of the loop can be cut with wire cutters.Cut above the loop so that it's still there. When cutting wire, wear safety goggles to protect your eyes.
Step 11: The loop can be opened slightly.
The French hooks can be slid onto the loop using your round nose pliers.
Step 12: The loop needs to be closed.
The hooks could slip out if the loop was closed completely. All finished!
