MIT Media Lab created Scratch, a free, fun and safe programming environment. You can use Scratch on your mobile device. You can learn how to use Scratch 3.0.This article will show you everything you need to know to get started.
Step 1: You can go to the main page.
The original Scratch is mobile compatible, but Scratch 3.0 is different.
Step 2: To create a new account on Scratch, click the " Join Scratch" button on the home page.
The sign in button can be found on the left of the page. What do you want your password to be?They can send you emails about your Scratch account and occasional updates if you give them your email.Don't use a different name for your real name.If the Scratch Team discovers that you have a usernames that is inappropriate or your real name, you might be blocked.Pick a name that represents you. When you were born, where do you live, and what is your gender will be asked by Scratch.
Step 3: You need to confirm your email address.
Go to Gmail with the email address you typed in.You should be asked to confirm your new account. To confirm the account, click "confirm my account"You should type a valid email.Invalid emails will prevent Scratch from sending the confirmation link to the correct inbox, so you will not be able to share, comment, star, and heart projects. You can share projects, comment, and post forums if you confirm your email address.
Step 4: You can create and code some Scratch 3.0 projects.
If you are respectful to other users and have used scratch well, you will be invited to become a scratcher after about 2 weeks. Before joining Scratch, you should read the community guidelines.Join studios and follow people to meet other people.
Step 5: The project button can be found at the top of the screen or in the "My Stuff" section.
After your project finishes loading, the first thing you should see is a Scratch Cat Sprite.Leave it if you want that image for your project. You can add a new sprite by going to the library. You can use your device's camera to take a picture.
Step 6: Understand the meaning of each block.
You have to explore by yourself most of the time.To learn how it works, you need to test the block combinations. The motion blocks are moving. The sprite can move forwards or backwards.Blocks can change the size of the sprite, make it speak on the screen, and have other effects, such as ghost and color effects.Sound blocks are used to add sound to a project. The "When green flag Clicked" block is one of the events blocks.Control blocks allow you to make a decision. If you want a situation in the project, use the if-then blocks. When two colors are touching, something is happening. If the two colors are touching the same part, that's the sense. There are blue blocks. The addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division blocks are operators blocks.Variables are used when you want a score.A list can also be created. You can make something to store in Scratch.Once your status changes, you cannot use the cloud variables.Try different combinations of blocks. You will begin coding with the blocks in the next step. You can begin coding if you understand the blocks. In the next few steps, you can learn how to start a project on your own.
Step 7: To code, drag the blocks in the workspace.
The blocks can be dragged into your workspace. There are motion, looks, sound, events, control, operators, variables, lists, and my blocks. It is possible to make your own blocks. What will your coding block do?You can use your blocks in a project. To remove a block, drag it back to the blocks section.
Step 8: You can start your project by dragging the "When Green flag Clicked" block into your workspace.
Click on the green flag at the top corner of the project if you drag a "move 10 steps" block.See how it moves. There will be 10 steps forward.Try to change "10" to " 100".The sprite is moving more steps. If you put a "go to x:0, y: 0" block right after the "When Green Flag Clicked" blocks, your sprite will return to the spot where it started. The "y" axis should be changed to make the sprite move up and down. You can use the "Change y by ( )" block. The "Change x by ( ) block" can be used to change the "x" axis.Every project needs the When Flag Clicked block.Your code runs on that block. This step is used by beginners to see how the code is put together. This will make sense to beginners as you begin. An example of an easy code can be found in the example code below. This easy project demonstrates how to use the "My Blocks" for an easy code.
Step 9: To run your project, click the green flag.
You will run your code if you click on the Green Flag.To stop running your project, click on the red stop sign next to the green flag.If you click on the green flag multiple times, you can see if you have code what you want.If something goes wrong, you can always go back to your code and check out what you don't like about it.
Step 10: For more advanced projects, use an extension.
Some advanced projects don't use an extension.Pen, translate, and text to speech are extensions.Extras can make your project more interesting. The extension is for projects that involve the project viewer. The extension allows the person to speak.Squeak and meow can be heard. The extension is able to translate text. You can type the text you want to translate into a different language.
Step 11: Share your project.
The purpose of scratch is not only to code, but also to present your projects for everyone else in the community to see, like, and comment.Share your project name with the world. You can preview your project before sharing it.You can turn off the comments on your project. If you like your project, star and heart it.
Step 12: There are more projects to be created.
You can create amazing projects with Scratch 3.0.Code and have fun at the same time! Some project ideas are platformers, which can be controlled by arrow keys or mobile controls, and snake games, where the "snake" grows longer when it touches the apple. When you move your mouse, you can see things in different perspectives.Make a project to teach other scratchers how to do something.
Step 13: Go to the bottom of the page.
Click on it to go to the discussion forums. It is a place where you can meet other people, ask questions, and present yourself to the Scratch Community.
Step 14: See the subcategories.
There are different categories to post your topic in the Scratch Discussion forums at the bottom of the scratch page. You can find topics and posts in different categories. The forums might take a little while to load on some devices. The forums hold a lot of information, so be patient.
Step 15: You can ask your question by going to Project ideas.
You can pick which category your topic should be in.Pick an appropriate category for your post to be in.Follow your new discussion to get messages about it.If someone posted a forum on your topic, you will get messages from it.After creating a topic for 24 hours, you can close it by scrolling to the bottom or top and clicking a button. You can't have forums on your topic anymore.
