This article explains how to quickly and cheaply make a 5 foot Christmas star to put an exclamation point on your Christmas light display.
Step 1: Take the parts.
You'll need: 3 - 10' sections of plastic conduit, 10 - 12 X 3 galvanized bolts,10 - 24 galvanized fender washers,10, and lock washers and 2 strings or more of 100 count mini lights, plastic ties, or electrical tape.
Step 2: Cut the conduit in half so you have tubes.
Step 3: You can drill a hole through one end of the conduit.
Step 4: Bolt two pieces of conduit together.
With the bolt through the conduit, slide the fender washer on followed by the lock washer. The fingers are tightened.
Step 5: One end of the "V" should be laid onto the ground and the other end drilled into it.
The star is forming. The conduit has pre-drilled holes. To make sure the holes line up, you do it this way. With the bolt through the conduit, slide the lock washer and fender washer on.The finger is tight.
Step 6: Continue until you have bolted all five corners of the star together.
The star will allow you to shape it until you like the way it looks.
Step 7: There are five points inside the star where the conduit crosses.
If you want your star to hold its shape, you need to bolt the spots one by one.
Step 8: The star should be wrapped with lights.
There are some pieces of the star that need to be wrapped. The star will be uniformly lit if you put twenty lights on each side. The lights were attached using electrical tape and plastic tie wraps.
Step 9: You can put a foot inside a 10 foot metal conduit to gain height.
Attach the conduit with a cotter pin.Your pole should be 19 feet long. There is a hole one inch down from the end of the conduit.Run a 4.5" bolt through the conduit to replace the top bolt on the star. You can put the pole to a chimney, tree, playhouse, wall or both.Have a good time!
