How To Image With Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
Windows Deployment Services is a network-based software developed by Microsoft.Windows 7 can be deployed over a network using Windows deployment services.There are Windows Deployment Services images files that can be found in server 2008 and later as well as an optional install of server 2003 service pack 2.This article will show you how to install an image on a network.
Step 1: The role is to install Windows deployment services.
Click the roles you want to add in the server manager.Click next to see the add role wizard.Click next to select Windows deployment services role at the bottom of the list.Click next to accept the defaults.Click to install.
Step 2: Windows deployment services server should be configured.

After you configured the server, the Add image wizard should have come up.Click the plus sign next to your server if it's not in the Windows Deployment Services window.Click on the images to add them to your collection.Select to create a new image group.Click next to browse to choose the Windows image you want to use.If there is more than one image in the.WIM file, you need to select the images you want and click next.Click next if everything is right on the summary page.The images will be installed.Click finished when installation is complete.
Step 4: You can create a capture image.
Click on the boot image folder to add it to your server.Click Next to browse for the boot image you want.Click next if you want to give the boot image a name and description.Click next if you confirm.Click finished after installation.Click next to create a capture boot image.Click next if you want to install a boot image.Click finished when the image has been captured.
Step 5: Sysprep can be done on client PCs.
The client needs to be Booted up.Click Start to start the computer.The path for the file is C:Windowssystem32Sysprep.Run the application from the sysprep folder.If you want to shut down the system, check the generalize box and then click OK.
Step 6: Go to the network.
Before windows boots, enter the key combination to boot the PC.When the bios is loading, the combination is displayed on the screen.You can restart if you need to see the combination again or missed the time to enter.Select boot into network when you start the boot menu.To get into the Windows deployment services image capture wizard, you have to select the capture image from the windows boot manager.
Step 7: The Windows deployment wizard needs to be completed.
Pick the volume you want to capture.The C: drive has been changed because it holds boot files.Click next if you want to name the image and give a description.Check to make sure the image is uploaded to the server.You need to enter credentials.You can choose the image name from the box.To enter Command Prompt, we need to mount a drive.The Prompt type is net use.Net use is an example.The "*" means chose a drive letter not in use, "Hound" is my server name and my folder is "my images"Hit enter after you type in the command.There is an exit command prompt.You created a location in command prompt.Click next.The server is being copied to the hard drive.You have captured something.
