Step 1: If you use the RF accessory.
Attach the RF adapter to the TV and then remove the antenna, VCR, or whatever is plugged into it.It's not needed for most modern TVs.
Step 2: Make sure the 3-4 switch is on the channel you want to use by hooking up the end that goes into the NES to the RF SWITCH jack.
Plug your antenna into the RF switch box if you are connecting the NES into a digital television with no analogue input.Don't bother with your television antenna if you are using an analogue television.
Step 3: If you use cables.
There is only one sound output on the NES.
Step 4: This applies to everyone now.
The wall outlet should be connected to the AC port on the NES.If the setting is 9 volts, set it to that.It will work with up to 12 volts, but it will warm up.
Step 5: The controllers can be plugged into the controller ports.
If you only have one controller, hook it up to the first port.
Step 6: If you want to put your game pack in the slot, open it and slide it into it.
When you hear a click, press down.
Step 7: You can change the channel on the TV if you have the NES set to it.
Step 8: The game should start when you turn on the NES.
If you don't have an analogue input, you can return your television to normal viewing by changing the channel.
