How to enter RCM mode on your Nintendo Switch is explained in the NH Switch Guide.
In most scenarios, the recovery mode on the Switch is useless for the end- user. The special mode acts as our gateway into CFW due to the vulnerability.
There are several ways to enter RCM.The most affordable require nothing more than common household items, while the most reliable are very cheap.
It is not possible to send a message on the systems patched units can enter. The recovery mode accessed by holding Volume Up, Volume Down, and Power is different to the one accessed in RCM.
The order of methods is easy to understand. The most difficult and advanced methods are at the bottom of the list.
If the Nintendo logo and boots are displayed normally or immediately shuts down, you should try again. If your console did not turn on normally, and the screen remained black with no backlight, your switch is in RCM.
The Metal Bridge / Paperclip method is used in some jig designs. We recommend switchjigs.com if you want a safe jig design.
This method is more reliable and safer than the Metal Bridge method. The correct pins are shorted every time because Jigs hold a wire in place.
The ones we recommend being $5 are the Jigs that range in price. We can guarantee their quality, even though they are slightly more expensive than mass produced jigs.Spending $5 on a quality jig using 32-gauge wire is less expensive than replacing your entire Joy-Con rail after the pins are scratched off by a paperclip jig.
This image shows the pads numbers on the console, if you plan to make your own jig.Make sure your jig doesn't touch pin 4.If you connect the Joycons to any other pins, you will fry the console.
You can take the jig out of the joycon rail once you have entered RCM.
The method came to us from the mind of pbanj. All pictures of this method in action were provided by him.
The goal of this method is to open the Joy-Con with the right hand, so that you can easily reach the contact pads. You will be soldering wires to pins 7 and 10 and wiring them to the "Joycon release button" at the top back of the right hand Joycon.
You will need to wrap one end of each wire in a small circle in order to start this method.
If you want to keep one of the wires flat, you must add a small amount of solder to the circular end.You will glue the wire down to the Joycon release button.Glue shouldn't cover the top of the solder/wire as it will act as a contact point.Make sure you leave enough space for the button to function. If you can see where and how you should glue the solder, push the button from the outside.
The green circle shows the location of the first wire. The second wire doesn't require solder and you can hold it in place using the screw shown in the picture below.
The solder point you created when you pressed the Joycon button should now show up on the piece of metal held in by the screw. It doesn't matter which wire you connect to pad 7 or pad 10, you need to have these elements in place. You have created a button on your Joycon. You need to hold down the Joycon release button to boot.
The goal of this method is to open the Joy-Con with the right hand, so that you can easily reach the contact pads. The goal is to solder pins 7 and 10 together with a surface-mount 0805 10k Resistor. The method of soldering to pads is currently considered to be the safest method.
This method will cause the Joy-Con to be detected in wireless mode while attached to the switch, and if you update theJoy- Con firmware while this mod is installed, it will be permanently detected as wireless. To fix this, you need to open the Joy-Con and remove the battery. It is a good idea to solder pads 7 and 10 together.
The goal of this method is to open the Joy-Con with the right hand, so that you can easily reach the contact pads. The goal is to solder pads 9 and 10 together. This can be done with a small wire or solder.
This method will cause the Joy-Con to be detected in wireless mode while attached to the switch, and if you update theJoy- Con firmware while this mod is installed, it will be permanently detected as wireless. To fix this, you need to open the Joy-Con and remove the battery.
The goal of this method is to open the right handed Joy-Con to the point that you can reach the contact pads easily, and use a thin object such as a knife to bend pin 9 and 10 slightly up and towards each other so they touch, shorting them.
