Scoliosis is a condition of the spine.There are three main types of scoliosis.Depending on the type of scoliosis, how severe it is, and its potential to get worse with time, you should follow a treatment course.
Step 1: You should consult your doctor.
The following exercises can be adapted to both C- and S-curve types of scoliosis.To ensure you adapt the exercises correctly, you should always consult your doctor.Scoliosis exercises can be used for effective treatment.Scoliosis exercises should be specific to your curve pattern.Mild to moderate scoliotic curves can be reduced with general, balanced exercise.If you want to correct any imbalances, you should not only work on one side of your body.While these exercises can be used as part of a larger exercise program, focusing on one side of the body can cause a muscular imbalance and make symptoms worse, and has not been shown to be effective at slowing curve progression.
Step 2: The exercise ball should be stretched.
Take a kneeling position on the mat.On the other side of your curve, rest a large exercise ball against your hip.The ball should be between the hip and the bottom of the rib cage.While stretching out your upper hand, balance yourself with both feet and your lower hand.Hold this position for 30 seconds and then do a few reps.The exercise can be done daily.
Step 3: The foam roller towel can be stretched.
Wrap a towel around the foam roller and lay it across the mat.If you want the foam roller to be in line with your body, lay it across.It should rest between your hip and rib cage.Your top and bottom legs should be straight.Put your hand on the floor.You can do this exercise on a daily basis.
Step 4: The partner stretch exercise is performed.
Put your stomach on the floor.If you want your toes, forearms, and elbows to hold you up, raise your body up in a plank position.Your partner will kneel beside you on the side of the curve that is not straight, and pull your midriff towards him or her, giving a nice, deep stretch.You can do this on a daily basis.
Step 5: The exercise is done on the stair step.
There is a difference in leg length that can contribute to Scoliosis.There is a longer leg on the stair.As you bend onto one knee, lower the other leg to the floor.While bending, raise the arm that is on the other side as high as possible.If you are lowering your leg, raise your arm.Take a few sets of reps of this exercise.Only do it on the other side.You can do this exercise on a daily basis.
Step 6: Do downward-facing dog stretches.
Scoliosis treatment can be done with a classic yoga position.Begin in a plank position with your legs and arms stretched out in front of you and your palms on the floor.If you want your body to make a triangle shape with the floor as the base, you need to push your hips and buttocks into the air slowly.Hold this position for 5 seconds, then lower into plank position once more.Two to three sets of five to 10 reps.You can do this on a daily basis.
Step 7: Do a stretch.
This stretch is for people with long legs.The leg in front of you is longer.If you want to shift your weight between the front and back legs, keep your torso upright.As you shift your weight onto the knee, allow it to bend.Try to raise the arm that is opposite of your leg as high as possible.While you raise the one arm, use the other arm to reach back as far as you can.The torso and spine move to the side of the leg.Only on the one side can you do this exercise.Two to three sets of five to 10 reps each.It is possible to do this exercise daily.
Step 8: Work on forward bend exercises.
Begin the exercise with your knees on the mat and your stomach on a large exercise ball.You can fall forward over the ball in a relaxed position.The point where your back is parallel to the ball is from this position.If you hold your arms and legs straight, you will be able to run parallel to the ball.Do 10 reps and hold this position for a count of 10.
Step 9: Do bent-over raises.
Start this exercise by sitting on top of a large exercise ball with your feet on the floor in front of you.You can wrap your arms around the middle of your thighs if you bend over so that your body appears to be a table.Keep your arms close to your sides, and pick up the light hand weights in your hands, keeping them parallel to the ground.You can do this exercise on a daily basis.
Step 10: Determine the type of Scoliosis you have.
There are three primary forms of Scoliosis.Functional, Muscular, and Scoliosis are some of the forms.Patients have different curves to their spine.Your doctor can help you with your diagnosis and treatment options.There is a structural defect somewhere else in the body that causes Functional Scoliosis.There is a difference in length between the legs.A wedge can be inserted into a shoe to correct this.Correcting the leg length will help keep the spine from curving.Scoliosis is caused by structural abnormality in the spine.This can be treated with surgery because of its high potential to get worse.Idiopathic Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine for unknown reasons.The condition is often corrected in infancy.There is a high chance that it will get worse if it happens in school-aged children.No treatment is needed if the curve is below 25 degrees.
Step 11: There are braces and surgical options.
Curves between 25 and 40 degrees may require a brace.It is recommended for curves over 40 degrees to have surgery.If a back brace, surgery, or another option is best for you, your doctor will make a decision.
Step 12: Talk to your doctor about treatment methods.
