How To Descale a coffee machine.

The machine's performance and taste can be affected by the lime scale that develops over time.It is possible to descale a Keurig using a cleaning solution or a few simple household ingredients.

Step 1: The k-cup packs need to be removed from the brewer.

You can either leave them in the funnel or take them out.Leaving the funnel or cup holder inside will help guide the solution into the exit spout and prevent spills.

Step 2: The water should be poured into the sink from the Keurig.

Take the water filter out and put it away.

Step 3: Make sure the automatic shut-off setting is turned off.

You will need to allow any cleaning solution to sit in the larger Keurigs for a long time, and the brewer will have to be on during this time.

Step 4: The water should be filled with distilled white vinegar.

You will be using a small amount of white vinegar. The inside of the machine can be damaged.Don't use apple cider vinegar.Extra rinses with fresh water are required in order to get all of the flavor out of a Keurig.Lemon juice can also be used.Simply add lemon juice to the water tank.Only fill a third of the way if the build-up is not bad.

Step 5: The rest of the way should be filled with water.

Don't go past the top line. The water will make it safer to use a coffee maker.

Step 6: Beneath the spout, place a ceramic mug on the tray.

You don't want to get any overflows or spills if you have something that holds about 10 ounces.

Step 7: Put a cup of hot water in the sink.

The lime scale will be dissolved by the use of the machine.

Step 8: Don't let the water out until the reservoir is almost empty.

You can say "add water" on the screen or flash a light. If you're using a K10 Mini Plus or K130 Brewer, turn it off when it starts pouring hot water into your mug.

Step 9: Allow the rest of the vinegar to sit for four hours.

If the machine indicates "add water", stop the brew cycle and let it sit for four hours. This will allow the machine to do its work. The machine should be on during this stage.Press Menu twice to access the Auto Off settings, then press the Left button to cycle through the number of hours until it displays "Off."

Step 10: If you want to rinse it, pour it into a sink.

Before moving on to the next step, you want to remove all of the vinegar from the reservoir.

Step 11: The water should be fresh.

You will have to flush it out using fresh water because it has some vinegar inside. You will get bad-tasting coffee if you don't do this.

Step 12: You can make a cup of hot water.

The smell may be strong. This is normal. The smell will go away with each cup of hot water.

Step 13: Put the mug back under the dispensers.

Put the mug over the sink. You don't need to rinse the mug, just put it back on the tray.

Step 14: The hot water should be kept until it is empty.

Before you brew another mug of hot water, dump it into the sink. The stronger the smell, the weaker it is.The K10 Mini Plus and the K130 Brewer have a capacity of about three beers. The K-Cup Home series, the K145, K155 Brewers, and the V500, V700, need about 12 beers. If you want to get that many, you may need to refill the water reservoir.

Step 15: The solution to be prepared is the citric acid.

You will need between 1 and 2 cups of water for the amount of citric acid you need. The canning department of grocery stores has citric acid.It may be called "sour soda" instead.Put the acid into the water with a spoon. If you are using a smaller, single-cup brewer, such as a K10 Mini Plus or K130 Brewer, consider using 1 cup of liquid citric acid instead.

Step 16: The solution should be poured into the reservoir.

The lime scale will be dissolved by the citric acid.

Step 17: Beneath the drainage spout, place a mug.

The cup should match the brew size so you don't get spills. You can use a bigger cup.

Step 18: You can brew a cup of hot water.

The keurig will be dissolved by the flow of the citric acid.

Step 19: After pouring out the hot water, brew another cup.

Continue until the reservoir is empty. If you are using a small brewer, such as the K10 Mini Plus or a K130 Brewer, turn it off just as it begins to brew and let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 20: The water should be fresh.

If you want to refill the Keurig, take it out and use cool water.Once it's full, put it back into the machine. You will need to flush the machine out because it still has some citric acid inside. You will get a bad taste the next time you brew coffee if you don't.

Step 21: Continue to brew cups of hot water until there's nothing left.

After you brew a cup of hot water, put the water into the sink and replace the mug beneath the dispensers. You will need to run the water through the K10 Mini Plus or K130 Brewer about six times.

Step 22: One part cleaning solution and one part water is required.

If you follow the recommended proportions on the label, you can use a different type of cleaning solution. One third of a bottle of cleaning solution liquid should be used for the K10 Mini Plus and K130 Brewer. The tank should be filled with clean water the rest of the way.The entire bottle of cleaning solution is required for the K-Cup Home series.Put the clean water into the water tank with the empty bottle.

Step 23: There is a mug beneath the dispensers.

You don't want to get any spills if the brew size matches the cup size.

Step 24: Pour the hot water out.

Wait 5 seconds and then lower the handle.Wait until the cup fills and press the "brew" button.Remove the mug and put the hot water in the sink.

Step 25: Wait 30 minutes and repeat until the water is gone.

When there is no more water, pour the water out of the mug.Stop and wait 30 minutes when the "add water" warning comes on.The machine should stay on during this time.During this time, the cleaning fluid will work on dissolving any build-up inside the machine. If you have a K10 Mini Plus or K130 Brewer, start to brew another cup and then turn it off as the water starts to come out.Wait 30 minutes and brew the last cup.You may have to lift the handle to get it to brew. You don't need to wait 30 minutes if you have one of the Rivo Brewers.Proceed to the next step.

Step 26: Put fresh water in the reservoir.

Pull out the cleaning solution from the reservoir and rinse it.Cool water is used to refill it.You will need fresh water to clear out the cleaner inside your machine.

Step 27: Pour the hot water out.

You will need to repeat this step many times until there is no cleaner left inside.Next time you use your machine, you will get a bad taste if you don't do this. You need to do about three brews for the K10 Mini Plus and K130 Brewer. You will need to make about 12 brews for the other K-Cup Home series.
