How To Create a Gradient in Google Slides

Many people make their background and textboxes a single solid color when they make a slideshow presentation.It is possible to make your presentation stand out with the use of gradients.

Step 1: To create or access a slideshow, go to docs.google.com.

You can log in by entering your email and password.

Step 2: Click Blank to start a new presentation if you want to edit an existing one.

Step 3: You can choose your theme.

The menu bar at the top of the screen can be used to change the theme of your presentation.Choosing a theme other than Simple Light and Simple Dark will give you more color options for your gradient.When making a gradient, the theme colors can be used to match the rest of the slideshow.

Step 4: Click the background to find out more.

This allows you to change the color of your background or add an image to it.

Step 5: There is a colored circle across from the color.

A drop-down menu will appear if you choose the "Solid" option.You can get an idea of what colors you can use with the "Solid" page.

Step 6: You can go to the Gradient page.

The Solid button is pre-selected at the top of the drop-down menu.There are several boxes on this page.The background of your presentation can be selected.

Step 7: You can open the custom menu.

You should be taken to the same page if you click Custom... or the plus sign underneath it.A menu will open in the middle of the screen with several options: type, angle, center, and radial, along with a color bar at the bottom.

Step 8: Decide if you want your presentation to have a linear or radial gradient.

A linear gradient has colors fade into each other in a straight line.The radial option has a circle with colors fading into and out of the arcs.

Step 9: Try different angles and points of the center.

There are several angle options to choose from if you choose to make a linear gradient.The default option is 90, with colors starting from the top and fading down.Some angles will be up and down, some side to side and some diagonal.If you choose the radial option, you'll be given options for where the center of your gradient will be.The circle/arc can be seen in the middle, top right corner, bottom left corner and bottom right corners.To see how the colors blend, try different points.

Step 10: Pick your first two colors.

There is a color bar at the bottom of the menu.Click the colored circle next to the Gradient Stops to choose a color after selecting the end box on either the left or right.You can make a custom color, choose a color from the menu, or use a theme color.The box should be on the other end of the color bar.

Step 11: Consider the use of transparency.

Part of your transparent or translucent can be made.Clicking the colored circle will open the color menu and make one of your colors transparent.The transparent option is located next to a drop at the top of the color menu.Pick the color you are using in its opaque form to make a translucent color.If needed, reopen the color menu and select the Custom option.You can click and drag your mouse.This changes how you see the color.

Step 12: Add some stops.

You can add more colors to your gradient.Click Add to add your two base colors.Selecting a color will add it to your gradient when the color menu reopens.The color bar at the bottom tells you where the color is located.There is a small colored circle near the middle of the color bar.To move the circle along the color bar, use your mouse.Add more stops with different colors to add more colors.Under the Gradient Stops option, you can remove the stops by selecting the circle of the color you want to remove.

Step 13: The "theme colors" are used to make a gradients.

There are different colors in the color menu when you choose a theme for your slideshow.If you want to stay consistent, you can use the theme colors and match the text.

Step 14: gradients can be used in different ways.

You can make words, textboxes, and gradient shapes in addition to the background of a Slides presentation.Change the background from a solid color to a gradient color sequence by creating Word Art.Shapes and textboxes can be changed from transparent and grey to other colors.Use different styles and ways to use gradients in your presentation.
