Your belongings will get to their destination safe and sound if your moving boxes are constructed correctly. If you open the box and tape the bottom flaps down, they will be secure. All you have to do is fill the box with your stuff and tape the top shut.
Step 1: The flaps are located at the top of the box.
The flaps that are connected by small cardboard tabs are located at the top of the box.Only the flaps at the top of the box have tabs. You can see which side is the top by looking at the box.
Step 2: The top flaps should be folded on both sides.
When you fold the flaps, keep the box flat. After folding the flaps, the box should still be flat.
Step 3: If you open the box, it will no longer be flat.
Pull the corners away from each other to open the box.The box should be square when you are done. After you open the box, the top flaps should be folded down. The flaps can be locked in place with the help of cardboard tabs.If your box doesn't have lock tabs, fold the flaps down so they're not in your way.
Step 4: The box should be turned upside down.
The folded-down flaps should be near the floor. The 4 bottom flaps should be pointing at you.
Step 5: The bottom flaps should be folded over each other.
First, fold the shorter flaps down. You should not be able to see into the box when the bottom flaps are folded down.
Step 6: There is a piece of packaging tape between the flaps.
If you want to use other kinds of tape, use packaging tape. The ends of the tape need to go up the sides of a box.
Step 7: There are two pieces of tape on each side of the first piece.
The first piece of tape should be over the second and third pieces. The extra tape isn't needed to cover the seam between the bottom flaps, it's there to make the box more secure.
Step 8: The box needs to be turned over.
The taped end should be at the bottom of the box.The box is ready for packing now that it is open and taped together.
Step 9: You should pack your things in the box.
Make sure your belongings don't exceed the weight limit by checking the bottom or side of the box.If there is anything sticking out over the top rim of the box, you won't be able to close it.
Step 10: Use a utility knife to cut the tabs on the flaps.
You can fold the flaps if you cut the tabs.Remove the flaps from the tabs until they are no longer attached to each other. You can skip this step if the flaps do not have tabs.
Step 11: The flaps should be folded over each other.
Just like you folded the flaps on the bottom of the box, you should do the same with the short and long flaps. The box should be closed when you're done.
Step 12: Attach the top of the box to the bottom.
If you want the ends to go down the sides of the box, you need to run a piece of packaging tape through the seam between the top flaps.Run another piece of tape along each side of the first piece to make the box more secure.
Step 13: The moving box needs to be labeled.
If this isn't the only box you'll be packing, number it so you can keep track of how many boxes you have.Write the name of the room you'll be unpacking in, like a kitchen or master bedroom.Write "fragile" on the outside of the box if it is fragile.
